I've gotten several comments about me riding in shorts and t shirt whenever i post this pic somewhere.

I just want feed back as to how many of you ride in shorts or t shirt sometimes. I don't do it everyday like a retard, but on humid 95 degree days im not putting on a leather jacket and jeans. Im from jersey and it gets really hot here mid august.
You think I'm considered a squid?.:headscratch

:crackup That's what I was thinking.

It's not like hot asphalt will refrain from quickly ripping and peeling you skin from your muscle tissue as you slide any less than cold asphalt. And the warm road sign will not be anymore forgiving than a cold one as it breaks multiple vertebre in your skinny a*s when your slide comes to an end against it.

Wear your gear brother. It's made for a reason.

i wouldn't call you a squid.
I'd say you are using poor judgement. We make our own choices and live with the results.

How many times have you crashed on the street/track by the way? Just wondering.

sorry to say i agree.. I live in Arizona... you think Jersey is hot in the summer... i used to live in NY so i know exactly what your summers are like.. Try 115 degrees... and I still wear jeans and my joe rocket jacket.. its vented... and when im moving, I dont notice it at all....

I've done it. But not since my buddy totalled his brand new zzr wearing a cut off shirt and plaid shorts going around 15 mph and was torn up with road rash. I'd rather sweat than bleed. But its all your choice.

psshh. 95 degrees. That's a cold front. Go ride in arizona or florida or even here in texas where it hits 110 with million percent humidity and we still rock the gear. Well most. But seriously that is a bit of a squid move. I rather sweat then bleed.

Damn. That's a lot of percent. You're liable to drown walking around out there. :lol

well i know i'm going to get flamed for this but no since telling a lie. i work in a warehouse factory. when it gets up around 100 degrees outside its about 110-115 inside. i really don't wanna be wearing jeans dor 10 hours in that kind of heat and humidity. so on days like that i do ride in shorts but i wear my joe rocket jacket. yes i know you say whats the point. i know that know matter what road rash is going to hurt like hell nomatter what part of the body its on. atleast this way i'm keeping my vital organs more protected and if something bad did happen my arms and hands and shit like that will be rash free. legs yes they could be fucked up but atleast if nothing is broke i will still be able to walk.

i know that is a squid way of thinking but i only live 5 miles from my work and its basically a straight shot. i always pay close attention to traffic around me. thats one thing my dad always preached to me. now any other time i ride i wear full gear (boots, jeans, jacket, gloves, and of coarse helmet).

If the weather is whack...rain, way to damn hot...I don't ride. I refuse to ride without gear so if I'm going to be uncomfortable, because of heat, I just don't ride.

anything above a 30% chance of rain and the bike stays in the garage. i've only ever been caught in the rain once so far and it came in faster than i don't know what. had hail and everything in it. talk about sucked.

Having come off couple of times I wouldn't ever consider riding a bike dressed like that. You CANNOT account for the actions of every other idiot on the roads no matter how good a rider you are.

The only reason I'm still intact and scar free is that i was wearing good quality kit both times i went for a slide. I was covered in bruises both times but no road rash and no broken bones, just picked the bike up and rode home.

You come off dressed like that at anything over 20 mph and you'll be having skin grafts for months.

Just my opinion!

We all know wearing saftey gear is important and TBH I won't go out without it, but we are all adults and must at the end of the day make our own choices sometimes those choices come with consequences but you have to be prepared to accept them.
You want to wear T shirt and shorts wear them although you might want to consider an armoured textile/ mesh riding jacket and comfy kevlar reinforced jeans not as cool as Jeans and T shit admitedly but cooler than leathers and safer than what you are wearing.
BTW I think a squid isn't just defined by his clothing but by actions and sate of mind.

not at all and yes MAJOR SQUID.
Hell it gets humid and hot in 100dreds of places including where i live during the summer months and yes its damn miserable with full leathers on in traffic but i'll gladly don them instead of dealing with the roadrash and HP (hydrogen peroxide)bathes for weeks on end.

Look man.. The only times I ever heard someone being called a squid is when someone is inexperienced. A rider who basically makes beginner mistakes like stalling the engine in 1st gear a lot. I think its bold as hell and careless as shit to not wear gear but I can understand not wear it 100% of the time. I might wear a armored vest if its too hot.

definition of a squid

A motorcycle rider who demonstrates a lack of respect for the general public and the failure to realize the possible negative impact that could result from their riding actions on public or non-public roads.

The squid is just unable to rationalize or conceptualize the possible negative outcomes resulting from their actions. This is regardless of whether or not they wear protective gear.

The squid does not realize that it is not that they are not wearing gear that makes them a squid - it is the fact that they think they are exempt from social morales and can pull a 10 o`clock wheelie on public roads or weave in and out of traffic at twice the traffic speed just because they can.

the helmet thing gets me with some people/states, like in mass theres no exception u have to wear the helmet but right over the border in New hampshire its your choice (live free or die hard) as they say, when u cross the border u can see guys on bikes pulled over takin off there helmets, then gettin back on and continuing, i just dont see that as a smart idea no matter how safe of a rider you feel you are, its pretty much going to be the easiest way to die if something happens.. i dunno just seems like a completely stupid idea riding without a helmet of all things.

I fully agree... I live in Arizona... no helmet law hear but most spoprt bike riders wear them all the time... The funniest thing to me, and I sometimes have to pull over from laughing so hard... is the Harley guys who never ever wear a helmet... but are always covered in full leathers....

You have been squidified. Get some gear and like someone said, you would rather sweat than bleed.
