Im not sure about the 02's but the 05's and on I believe for sure the 05 - 06 has built in shift lights. Anyways heres one on ebay I found:

Mine does not have a shift light... atleast I dont think so. Ive never noticed it. Is there a way to adjust at what RPMs it turns on?

 

If your talking about the ones on our bikes mine being a 05 yes. Also if your referring to the aftermarket ones yes those can be adjusted as well.

 

For the 05-06 models, could be the same for the others but not sure.....anyways there are two buttons on the left side near the shift light, hold those two buttons down and turn the bike on, wait a few seconds and the shift light will turn on and the RPM will display where your shift indicator range is and I believe its the bottom button you press it will go make the indicator go down or up. Try the bottom first than the top but Im sure its the bottom. Ill double check later. Anyways theres also a way of making the shift light brighter or dimmer or even turning it off using the top buttom, I believe Ill verify. Anyways if you are over your target indicator keep pressing the button and as it hits redline it will go down and if you went to low again keep hitting the button and when it hits a certain mark it will go back up.

just fixed it, would it still turn on in neutral? so i can make SURE i fixed it lol.

 

Once you set it, turn the key off to save it and than do it again and it should be at the settings you saved it to and your good. As for testing it go out and hit the point you set it at and test you should be good though! :crazyloco

 

well i cant do that with ice on the ground cause i set that bad boy at 15.5

thats what i was going to do, but it does happen in neutral? Im prolly not gonna start it till i get a new cooling hose. sprung a leak on the top :[

 

Oh do you mean as in neutral and rev'n it? Yes that will work. Sorry my mind is all over the place today and got myself confused.

As for hosing and cooling....yea best to fix before riding. Anything that has to do with cooling is a must fix!

 

yea, i think i'll go with a shift light. the gear indicator is not as important.
