Yes, you need a power commander. If you were just doing a slip-on or something you could probably get away without using one. But with the GP style exhaust, your bike would definitely benefit from a PC. Just like jetting the carbs, you have to retune the ECU.

actually u don't need a PC with a full system and my buddy is living proof he has a14 as well and is set up with a full muzzys system no PC and it runs fine, he does get some backfireing but so do I at about 3500 rpm and I have a custom map done by one of the best in the industry but I don't mind it actually I think it's pretty cool. As far as jetting u really don't have to do that to the newer bikes .

You don't NEED one But... You'll WANT one. To get the max out of your bike

even a stock bike benefits from any kind of FI controller with a custom map, but a lot of applications its just not nececary.

i doubt that roaring toyz pipe puts out more hp than stock so dont worry about a pc3. people think pc3's are plug in power, but thats not the case. theyre just an accessory for tuners to optimize performance and in turn tweak the power.
now if youre going to remove the secondary flies, then by all means, get a custom tune on a pc3, bazaaz or what ever control module you desire.

 

I would think you would run real lean down low without one. Up top you may be fine since its real rich from the factory.

Where are you guys mopunting the PC III's? I saw a pic of one up under the right dash trim near the intake duct. Is this the best place?

 

It should go under the left dash trim near the intake duct. I believe a couple of people have managed to get it under the seat but I wasn't able to get the wire harness routed to that location.

 

Ok so, to reiterate....I can do the full exhaust without the "NEED" for the PC? I mean, I am definitely gonna get one since I still have to pull the flys, but I want to do the exhaust as soon as I can. Then, once I do the flys, I will get it dyno tuned for optimum HP.

 

IMO, i wouldnt put on the Full exhaust until you got the pc for it.

 

My power commander did not give me any noticiable power gains but it did reduce the backfiring on decel after the custom map was done.

 

I had the same question with my '08 Hayabusa with a fully muzzy exhaust. The bike should be fine for now, and the PCIII in the short term will yield more desirable results.

PC is not necessarily Politically Correct

Just pulled the secondary butterflies out (use a long #2 phillips, heat the loctited screws for 2 minutes, tap the screwdriver firmly into the screw head and ease out slowly - eight screws) and installed the pre-mapped Fuel Moto PC111. Mapped specifically for a solo Muzzys pipe and 'flies out on a Concours C1400, which is your engine, very slight differences, like VVT camshaft regulator and lower compression ratio (I think).

Well, check the COG forum on these mods. It's huge. Those secondary butterflies don't open more than 60deg and are always an air restricter, especially at low rpm. They're there to tame the bike down for the average rider. The true low end response without the 'flies is a glory to behold, but you need the PC to richen up the fuel at low rpm. High rpm is pretty much the same (phenomenal, like the ZX!) getting there is a LOT quicker and carries a huge WOW! factor.

I'd never go back. I'm spoiled forever. The bike is so smooooth from 0 to 160. Around town, sweet, quiet, just enough burble to turn the right heads.
