Hi, This is my first time on this forum, so sorry if this question has been asked before, i have done a search but unable to find the answer i am looking for.

I have just picked up a brand new 2018 ZX14R
I have only noticed this now, about 3 hours after getting it home.
When i turn the the ignition key off, ( everything off ) there is a blinking red light on the dash, ( the one next to the left indicator light )
In the owners manual, it is listed as Indicator 3 and called Immobilizer Indicator.

The question is, is light suppose to be blinking when everything is turned off?
It isn't on when the bike is fired up and running.
On page 53 it tells me that it will blink for 24 hours and then turn itself off.
Just would like to know if this is correct, as it is the first bike that i have had with lights blinking away when turned off.
Will it flatten the battery if not used in over a week,
Or is there a way to just plain turn off this blinking light straight away when everything is turned off?

Any information would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers.

Thanks for the welcome, appreciated.
Also not sure if it was suppose to come with a rear cowling that sits over the passengers seat or not? I did get a Ventura rack and bag installed as part of the deal, all these things i am now only noticing.
Should i also be asking them about the rear cowling, or is this an accessory?
Also does it just slip on over the rear passenger part of the seat?
I got the model with the Ohlins shocks.
Cheers.

Yes, from Australia here. This version has Ohlins shocks, brembo brakes.
Not to worry about the seat cowling, just something else i thought of.
Mainly looking for some information on that blinking light,
Hoping anyone here might be able to shed some light on what it is or if i need to take it back.
Cheers.

Cheers, yes, basically if the motor is running and it is on there is an issue, but mine is off when running, so no issues there.
It is just when it is all turned off that it blinks as you have mentioned.
I guess i might have to wait the full 24 hours and see if it has stopped blinking.
A bit of an odd thing to have blinking away for 24 hours though.
I am hoping there might be a way to also just plain turn it off so it doesn't blink when everything is turned off.
Appreciate the input though, just something they didn't mention at the shop.

Push and hold the SEL button for more than 2 seconds, within 20 seconds of turning the ignition key to the "OFF" position, then the warning indicator light will not blink.

- From my owner's manual

US models have seat cowl, no centre stand, no passenger grab handle. They have a lower fairing in place of the centre stand.

I've seen non-US models with and without centre stands.

Mine is a SE Asia model (Philippines) and came with no seat cowl, but had a grab handle and a centre stand. I have since modified it to look like a US version, with seat cowl, no centre stand.

All the non-US models I've seen have a different tail piece (smaller) to accommodate the passenger grab handle. To fit a seat cowl, you need to remove the passenger grab handle, and replace the tail piece (otherwise, if you remove the seat cowl and don't put back the passenger grab handle you'll have a hole behind your seat).

Cheers for that information, appreciated.
Do i have to do that every time i turn the bike off so that the warning indicator light will not blink? or is it just a one time only and it remembers it?

Yes, the Australian version comes with a passenger grab handle and also the option to fit the center stand, mine is having the center stand fitted once they are back in stock.
Think i will leave mine without the cowl then as i don't realy want to replace it with a different tail piece, kind of like how the tail looks on mine, but worth while knowing.

You have to do it every time, I think. Did it before and I don't remember it staying off the next time.

The tail looks the same with both the larger US and the smaller non-US tail piece, the only difference is there is no cut-out space behind the seat for a grab handle, for US versions. So if your model has the grab handle, and you remove it, you'll have a hole behind your seat unless you also replace the small tailpiece behind it with the longer US one that covers up the space for the grab handle. If you place a seat cowl and don't replace the small tail piece, it will look fine since the seat cowl will cover the hole. I bought an extra seat and fitted a seat cowl to it, removed the grab handle and replaced the tail piece with the US version. Now I can just swap seats to have or not have a seat cowl without having to screw / unscrew. I usually ride with the seat cowl (I think the bike looks a lot better with one) but I swap in the seat without the cowl when I need to carry a passenger or a tail bag.
