well if there is indeed somehting wrong with the fan replace it either with a new one or a good one from e-bay or a bike junk yard etc. but you still might have other charging problems so I'm not sure you are out of the woods yet. keep us updated with what you find and we can probably further help you.

I had that "won't start again problem" once and was junction box malfuction. Changed and it get started everytime. Digital track corroded, when hot dilates and the electrical contact went to Kansas.

I'm with Ozzy on this one.
Your fan is acting normal. If it isn't running when your bike is off, it isn't/shouldn't be draining your battery. It won't make your bike die. I'm not sure if any bike has an overheat shutoff switch. If that was the case, every 14 out there with the so called heating problem would be dead on the road.
If it starts back up, it isn't a charging or battery problem.
I'm going by your symptoms you describe.
I would still check voltage at your battery. Then start bike and check voltage again, reading should be higher.
If it's all good, there's a chance your battery has a short in it when it heats up. just throwing some ideas out there.
Bring your battery into any auto parts store and they can test it for you.
Check ground connections too at battery and frame

ok i recieved my new fan today. i also rode my 12r to work it did fine on the way there, but when i was like 3 minutes from home my dash went out and the same symptoms started. lucky now cars were behind me or none were coming as i exited the freeway. so i went in the house for 10 mins and come back out to lock my handlebars. i turned the switch over to see what happens and the dash is back to normal. it wouldnt start of course and it reset the dash. anybody know of a way to test the fan to see if its the fan motor draining my power?

please help ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Yes, and about the replacement of the Junction Box, you could try to help by melting back the welds a renew them, and the fuse box could be fixed, if it is just a bad weld of components, and check the components on the start circuitry too.
