Does DID make a specific street bike or dirtbike chain in the 520VM style.

The reason i ask is a lot of online streetbike parts websites sell a 120 link DID 520VM for $150+ but on ebay there are dirtbike part stores with GREAT feedback selling the 120 link DID 520VM chain for like $95 shipped.

Is there a difference between the 2 chains or is the markup really just that ridiculous. Obviously if i can save 60 bucks on a chain I'd like to...but i feel like im missing something.

And yes i know that most dirtbike chains are clip style but the masterlink is only $9 dollars at most for a rivet style.

Here are examples

DID 520VM chain 120 links for $155

DID 520VM chain 120 links for $95.99 shipped

Try cyclesector.com That's where my buddies and I all get our chains from. I just got an EK 520-114 X-type gold for $70.

Email them, tell them Taylor F. sent you, and they should be able to set you up. They can also answer your questions. The owner, Diego, is a way cool guy.

if you have a stock sprocket setup you will need to change them as well. i got a (0/+5) supersprox stealth sprocket&chain kit w/ a d.i.d. erv3 520 chain from sprocketcenter.com for a decent price. would definitely recommend. such a difference.. same as doing the (-1/+2) i just prefer to not put less teeth on a small/high torqued gear.

If you use sprocketcenter.com do not order the supersprox unless you call and they are in stock. I ordered back in August and just switched my sprockets and d.i.d 520 kit conversion to superlite sprockets.

they can't get them in from overseas because the company is horrible in japan or wherever they are. . .IMHO that sprocketcenter is very very at what they do and they are a great company.

Again here is a simple fact... RK almost has a secret monopoly on the chain mark. Most OE factory bikes use RK chains. If you compare any other brand chain to the RK equivalant RK is far superior, price wise and tensile strength. One example.. To get the same tensile strength out of RKs 520GXW in DID 520ZVM2 retail is $100 more!! DID still has 250lbs less tensile strength even at that price point.

Its common sense, just dont understand why people still argue for DID.

The difference between the two items in the OP is that one is GOLD and one is steel? Colored chains are usually more expensive.

If your doing a conversion to a 520 chain youll need to get 520 conversion for sprockets... get a 520 chain/sprox conversion kit from www.sprocketcenter.com. They are great and have good pricing.

Thanks for the info. . .I have just heard D.I.D is one of the best. Never knew. . .I guess I will see how long my new one lasts and then go with RK next time.
