So I have a zzr1100 d model in a kitcar. Kawasaki say they are 147bhp at the flywheel and 139.7bhp at the rear wheel. I had mine dyno'd and set up 2 weeks ago. Its a standard engine with bigger main jets, foam panel filter and a 4 into 1 manifold with art race can. It made 143bhp at the rear wheels so will be about 155bhp at the flywheel. I'm going to tune the engine. Here's what I'm going to do 1109cc bigbore with je high comp piston, head gas flowed/ported/3 cut seats etc. Full race 4-2-1 exhaust system, high lift race cams with slotted cam sprockets, ignition advancer plate(advances ignition by +4 degree, 38mm flatslides with flow commander on them them. I spoke to holeshot racing and they said if I did this work to my engine it would easy make 200bhp at the flywheel, powertec said the same. Just wondered if anyone has tuned there's to similar spec and what gains they got. Let me no thanks

Um, no.

No I was gonna leave the crank. Holeshot said they are strong enough they said you only need to change the crank if you turbo them and run silly psi through them
Everything I've read, been told, and have seen says stock crank, bearings and rods are good quite a bit past 200hp. Different sources have different opinions on what should be changed at what level after that. I had mine dyno'd at 190 at the wheel in my early stages of tuning. Now, that was on a dynojet dyno, so everyone will slam it for being inaccurate. So be it. It was also at 7lbs of boost with crappy transition tuning, and a lot has been fixed since then. Running 9lbs now and almost have it so it will jerk your arms off at 5500 when the needle slams toward redline. No problems, and the engine is solid.

Can't answer your mod questions because I went the boosted route, but my vote is go to town. There is alot in these engines to be had, or people wouldn't have been building the hell out of them for the last 20 years. Good luck and keep us posted.

It was dyno'd at TRL there dyno cost ÂŁ115,000 it's one of the most accurate dyno's in England, why wouldn't it make 143 rwhp when they have 139.5rwhp standard and I have full exhaust system, dynojet kit and different airfilter so I'm getting loads more fuel and air than a standard bike. So with all a full exhaust, dyno kit and filter I have gained 3.5hp which I think is about right

If you're doing all that, why bother with ignition advance plates? Toss the stock ignition and get a programmable Dyna setup or something. Even then, 200hp seems unreasonably optimistic to me. If that's seriously your goal, have a sit down with a big name engine builder and get a quote from them. You'll probably buy a new bike instead as it will be cheaper ... unless you go turbo.

139 hp at the rear wheel also seems optimistic to me, parasitic losses will definitely eat more than seven horsepower. Are you sure the number you're getting out of the dyno isn't already a corrected estimate of crank horsepower?

I understand what you all mean that's why I posted up for advice. I wanted to hear from someone who has tuned there's and what results they got. It was defo 143hp at the wheels and not the crank. I have already spoke to holeshot racing who r the biggest motorbike tuners around and he says it will easy make 200hp at the crank not the wheels. Powertec get 185hp out of there engines and they hardly do anything to there engines. They also said it will do 200 hp as the zx11 is a very capable engine as it's undertuned standard. All of you saying it wont make 200hp at the crank. How do u know have you tuned one and tried it. Is there anyone on this site who has or are you all just gonna say you don't think it will when u have never tuned one

Oh that some funny shit there......You will never reach 200HP unless you boost it or put big $$ in a MAJOR bore and stroke with new block and head.......

Cheaper to buy a 12R........They handle better too......A 12R with a simple 1270 kit and mild head work will put down 190's at the tire all day long......Dont waist your time with the 11....That is unless you have LOTS of disposable income...

That's what I want to hear I thought again putting a busa in it but they are only a claimed 175 hp and for a good engine u will pay 2.5 to 3k. The new busa is wey out of my budget. Plus I can get a good deal on the big bore so it won't be expensive to do as I would buy all the parts and build it myself. Plus it.would be an achievement to beat the standard busa boys in there cars with an old well set up zx11. Plus I wouldn't put a busa in it I would go zx14 same sort of price and loads more power

if i needed a crank i would just do it myself lol what they are doing isnt rocket science if i ever dive into building mine i would v cut the crank and pendulm cut what is left of the counter weight. over balance it cryo and nitrite it it is a steel crank stock i know it would be gd for 200hp with out a problem.

just for info

hi guys, was just just looking for some info and came across this thread. ive got an OMS single seater with a zzr1100D. its built by extreme engines with falicon rods, 1109cc etc. originally had the flatslides fitted and made 164bhp @ wheels.
now gone to fuel injection with busa throttle bodies and microsquirt ecu. response is so much better and made 175@wheels at 9700rpm and 110ftlbs at 8400rpm with stock timing. had some issues with trigger wheels, gone through 8 custom wheels to get it to work. gna try again this week coz there is another 15bhp in timing according to dyno printouts. thought info might help anyone wanting to build same thing.

I was hoping the OP would have a update..

:lol

Id love to see your project too!
I guess there are a few people in malta that enjoy the zx11 also!

hi guys, ive been trying to resize and compress but they are stupid small and you wont see anything. If anyone wishes to give me an email address or facebook i can send them on that.

problem with the trigger wheel was it was not sensing the gap no matter the size of it or spacing, even tried with two pickups on it. we are now going to fit a cam sensor this weekend to see if we can solve it. there is a lot more power left in the timing so i hope it works. if not going to try an advancer but thats going to increase throughout the band and im happy with the bottom end dont want any pinking, just need to whack the timing up at high rpm.

cheers! ohh yeah and there are a couple of other zzr1100 in Malta, one of them is rotrex supercharged running on motec, very nice setup! thats my next step if i cant catch the top 3 :)
