I bought a non running 2000 ZX9R as a project bike. Did some engine work and got it going. I adjusted the valves took the carbs apart and cleaned them, put it all back together. It starts up fine, idles fine and revs up with no issue. Taking off in 1st gear it shakes and stutters pretty bad every time. Almost feels like when you try to take off in a higher gear. After it gets moving it runs great, shifts smooth and has plenty of power. I don't know where to start with troubleshooting this problem but I would really like to not have to take it to a shop. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Clutch issue possibly. What oil are you using? Motorcycle specific?
Check the carb diaphragms to make sure they are installed properly and not pinched under caps.
