I have a 1989 zx1000 with an 18 inch rear rim. The current tire I have on the is 170/60 and the new tire that the shop ordered for me is 160/60. I'm not fond of the mechanic and was a bit angry because even though I made it clear I want a 170 tire the ordered the 160. My question is will the 160/60 fit onto my rim and work well even though the current tire is 170/60...? I just don't know enough to be sure whether the 10 difference is going to be a problem or even fit my rim?

The stock size tire for your bike is 160-60-18. Sounds like he ordered the correct one even though you have a 170 on there now.
