Thank you!
She comes along fine i think
Yes the GPz had these problems with the starter clutch.
Had to rebuild this on my other gpz a few years ago.
Good tip for anyone owning these bikes
The also suffer from bad oil pressure in the top end. Pitting of the camshaft.
And i think also i heard about oil passages to crank nr 3 beaing blocked and destroys crank bearings.
But these bikes were groundbreaking in design and performance, so there are bound to be some faults.

The black 900R looks superb also.

The oil pressure issues can be solved by fitting the later ZZR11 oil pressure relief valve to the oil pump (1998 onwards). Kawasaki up-dated the oil pressure relief valve to a piston type plunger and 4 holes, instead of a ball type and 2 holes. The Kawasaki part # is 16130-1058.
I did this on my ZX10B and I see no reason why this part would not fit the 900R.
My ZX10B also has pitting camshafts, I have even heard that this was a problem with the later ZRX11/12 so why Kawasaki let it go so long is beyond me. The attached picture scared the shit out of me when I took the camshafts out to inspect them. But I have accepted it for what is is. The engine is 31 years old all the others will have the same problem, so getting replacements from other engines wont solve anything. Getting the camshafts repaired, ground etc is just too expensive.......may as well ride on until she eventually blows!!!

Looking good.
Have you considered replacing the mirrors?
I found the original mirrors next to useless on mine, all I could see where my elbows. The later 900's had the same mirrors as the ZX10B and I find these mirrors are excellent.

Wheels and swingarm almost done.
This project is killing me...
Nothing is going like i plan.
Waiting for parts like never before.
And the powdercoater did not mask up all the holes. Wich sucks. Tapping and trying do polish paint off takes forever.
Spring where are you!!!!!

Hang in there.
I know it is a pain to tap holes which should have been protected. But a t least you will know the threads are how they should be,

Could not find the can i wanted for decent money.
Bought a cheap stainless to modify.
Still need to make it 2"ID and move the mount, sand the welds.
I think either glass blasting use an orbital sander.
I use to work making stainless beer tanks and that is what we use to do.
