For 2012, Motogp will host the inaugural season of moto3. Moto3 is a 250cc class which will be replacing the 250cc two stroke class. My beef is why isn't Kawasaki balls deep in this class? Kawasaki has always been the leader in 250cc sales and i feel they should field a team. As of now, absolutely no mention of Kawi entries! WTF!?:banghead

Doesn't make any sense to me, of any of the racing divisions, this should be the one they would devote a lot of resources to because Kawi 250's are legendary

Ducati depends on racing success for sales. Honda and Yamaha are always in a dick-waving contest to see who can be dominant. Suzuki's too broke to race and Kawasaki builds giant ships and bullet trains. Their motorcycle division is a prestige thing and mostly lives on the reputation of fast streetbikes and race-winning dirtbikes. GP roadracing would be throwing money down a rathole for them, so in this economic climate, they don't. What's not to understand?

I don't pay much attention to what forum a new post is on. I guess one could make the case that this first post could have been in General Discussion even though it's about 250s. The reality is, racing is expen$ive and prudent corporations don't toss money around without the thought of possible return. And as we all know, motorcycle racing isn't NASCAR where soap makers and TV rental concerns toss millions around hoping to get their name plastered on the side of the 14th-place finisher.

Willy Werner took an Ebayed 650 Ninja and won two GNC Mile races with it in one season, got Kawasaki named "Manufacturer of the Year" and nobody paid much attention. Rickey Gadson runs a 9.31 1/4 mile on the new 14R and we're all about it. Follow the money.

So basically, Kawi is like that little ass dude who has like 15 different black belts sitting quietly in the corner just KNOWING he doesn't have to worry.
