wasn't sure wher to post this, but the general forum is a safe place to post.

i have a matte black scorpion exo400 helmet w/ dark smoke face shield and i really like it b/c the anti-fog system scorpion has w/ their shields. however, i accidentally dropped it on the cement and the rear vent whatever cracked and flew off this afternoon while riding, and now my helmet is NOISY. i'm in the market for a new helmet and i'm not sure which to get. i really like the shoei helmets, but not sure which one to get and where to get a good deal on a new one.

the shoei helmets i am debating on are the (i believe these are all RF 1000 models):

strife
picotte
diabolic 2
diabolic 3

any input is much appreciated as to where to get a good deal and experiences w/ the shoei RF 1000 helmets.

i thought these guys were good http://www.cyclegear.com/ good customer service, reasonable price, pretty large selection, fast shipping as well. best of all, any order over $100 bucks qualifies for free shipping, even to hawaii. sorry excludes international orders for you out of country riders. they even searched all their location to find me the last arai nakano in green 2005 line, in my size a medium! here is a pic if your curious to see what it looks like http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=1&L2=66&L3=&L4=&item=TUC_81-8471_G. they have a prety nice inventory size of shoei rf 1000s.

i think the zemke2 looks good http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=1&L2=&L3=&L4=&item=HEL_03-692_G

if price is a consideration, i strongly recommend an icon helmet. especially, if you are one like me in between sizes. i felt the fit was way better then a scorpion. i have to say the fit and quality of an icon for the price is very impressive. if so check out these guyz http://www.sandhillspowersports.com/sandhills/OnlineStore.do?. they match any online price and also offer free shipping. their selection is small, but the prices are great!

i dig this one from icon http://www.sandhillspowersports.com...&PCR=1:5:50012:51200&IID=icon_mainframe_skull

hope that helps you out some.

i read on another forum to also get some ear plugs to help w/ the noise reduction.

I love my Shoe X-Eleven. Great fit, good visibility, very light. However, for my forthcoming Concours 14 I'm looking at the Nolan N102 for its Bluetooth capabilities (Nav, Cell, MP3, XM Radio as well as rider/passenger comms).

I had worn the Arai Quantum for many many years, spending $500 a pop on each helm, 4 to be exact. Now I'm at the age where my money tree is falling down and I've discovered the Scorpion Helmet. IMHO, it fits just like the Arai for a third of the cost (over $500 for the arai, Under $200 for the scorpion). Don't get me wrong, the Arai is a wonderful helmet, but with the Scorpion rating 5 stars just like the Arai, I choose not to spend the extra cash.
