I'm 6'2 and around 190. If I get the 250r it will be my first bike, i don't want to get something with too much power as a precaution. I heard some people get cramped in the 250. I do mostly highway driving. You guys think i should get it?

go for a 600 or 650. i am 6'1 165 and i have a 08 ninja 650r and it is fast and powerful yet you wont feel like you are gonna die on it. it will do cause you wont have to upgrade down the line. i am even thinking of bumping up to a 1000 but thats just me.

Indeed. My wife is only 5'8. We sat her on a new 250R to try as a first bike, it looked ridiculous. Way too small, she'd have been cussing up a storm halfway down the road.

im 6'2 215lbs. a 250r was my first bike. it was a god little bike for cruising around the street. plenty to move you around lets say crowded down town or something but FORGET ABOUT THE HIGHWAY AT ALL. this thing was scary on the highway, it was way too small, and it is extremely hard to keep up with traffic, never mind overtake if need be. the 650 is a nice little bike, you can get them pretty cheap used and it will be A LOT better on the highway. they even get up to like 130-135 if that tickles your pickle. and they are comfortable. if you can afford it save your money and wait cause i GUARANTEE you that you will be glad you did. just my 2 cents.

get a 600, you'll regret the ninja 250 seriously (its a sport bike on a scooter engine)

get a used 600 if you must or cant afford a brand new

my first bike was a ninja 250 and is not satisfying at all

GO FOR 600!

cmon guys 250s are quicker than that. my buddy had one and you had to wring it out but shed still eventually reach that 120 mark, now for someone of your size the 250 wont be very quick at all go for the 650 its a nice sport tourer and prob just right for your size if you feel you just cant afford it shoot for a 500 at least but the 6 is prob gonna be your best bet and as long as you dont act like an ass, which it sounds like you wont, youll have no fear of dying

250 suck man dont waste your money just get a older 600 or even a 500. Everyone that i know who gets 250s want to sell them within a month due to poor lack of top speed it is definetly not a highway bike. Bottom line is 250 suck or are for teenage girls

This from the guy with the foot clutch. 96zx11boy, if you're looking for parts, post a thread in the Buy/Sell/Trade section. Probably want to ask for a rearset and shift lever assembly.

Besides, the more teenage girls on bikes the better, right?

Actually though, I have to agree in a way. If you really mostly do interstate riding and weigh near 2 bills, then I think you should stay 500cc or larger. Really, with your first bike it's not so much about having too much power as being too heavy. That's why I'd stay away from the liter bikes, especially the old 600 pounders like mine. A 5-600 is a perfect compromise.

Good luck!

Go with the 600 or 650

Go 600. My first bike was a 600 and it was enough power but not too much. Its a fairly comfortable to ride, I drive highway ALL THE TIME! Its nice to have the power and size to cruise on and its good for motoring about town. I think you will be sad with anything less... my 2 cents as well. :rolleyes
