Ok, talked to "Jeffo" out of Tucson...he says get rid of ignition module and TRE..."band aid" fixes he says.... Says all a zx14 needs is a power commander, 16t front sprocket, remove second set of "butterflies" a high end exhaust (yoshimira) an a good map.

Any thought on ignition module and TRE?

Not using TRE means there will be a speed limiter on it still...Ive read a lot on Jeffo, and give him huge props, everyone loves what he does. Just looking for some 2nd opinions on using the TRE and the ignition module, even with secondary flys removed, the TRE also removes low end power limited and the igniton module removes ignition timing retards....so not using the TRE or the ignition module would still hinder maximum performance...correct?

ok, just got off phone with him....talked me outa using the TRE and ignition module. Also convinced me to run 89 octane, said it will run harder and will not ping with 89(said it wont ping with 87 either). Says TRE and ignition module will do nothing with his map and what Im listing below. So short of reflashing CPU, just going with following:

Flys out
PCIII
Speedohealer
yoshimura 77 full system
16t front sprocket
running 89 octane

Thoughts anyone?

Well, since jeffo has you under the either, your plans should work out for you.

The reflash would cost you about $400.00. call guhl motors and or DPtuning. Get their opinions on Jeffo if you dare.
The reflash would remove any limiters in all gears.
You could also specify when you wanted the secondaries to open so you wouldn't have to remove them. You are still going to be top speed limited by your OEM electronics unless you do some of the multi speedohealer tricks or do a little grinding. With a reflash you will be totally unlimited and your speedo will read all the way up there past 200 mph if your bike has enough guts. you do still need the speedohealer even with the reflash. Sounds like you are happy so enjoy your new setup.

Havent installed map or rode since fly removal and 16t install. He told me to try it this way, and if I didnt like he would remap with TRE and IM. We shall see!

Top speed on the ZX-14 is limited by the ECU cutting fuel supply, so a timing retard eliminator won't affect that one way or the other. A TRE works by fooling the ECU into thinking the transmission's in 6th gear (or whatever gear you set it for) all the time. The 14's timing is slightly retarded in lower gears to prevent detonation during hard acceleration and this is likely why Jeffo recommends lower-octane fuel and no TRE.

Thats weird, on the box it says "Eliminates Top Speed Restriction" as one of its functions....

"From site:
The TRE is a direct "plug in" installation to your bike - no cutting or splicing
The TRE has no effect at full throttle (except ZX-14)
The TRE does have an effect from closed throttle up to half throttle in gears 1 through 4 at ANY rpm
The TRE will disable the speed limiter"

i think if you do a little more research, you may find that the disabling the speed limiter feature only works on some Suzukis, not Kawis.

The power commander has been around a long time now. i feel it's time is coming to a close IMO. There are still a lot of dynojet dynos out there. I would be developing an ECU reflash system to sell that would be compatible with existing dynos, (not just dynojet but others), and a tuning kit that would be compatible with a riders personal computer. The ECU interface cables would be sold also. All these endless dynojet products. Do we really need them? What we need is that the dyno operator have the ability to reflash the OEM ECU to the parameters the dyno tests require. The timing could be optimized for each gear, the flys could be opened at the correct time, the fueling in each gear could be optimized, the rev limiter could be reset and the speed limiter could be removed. After the custom reflash at the dyno operator's location, the rider could then make changes to to the ECU using the personal computer at home or at the track etc. I can see a bluetooth or wireless application too with an Android or Iphone/ipad app. During a ride you could make some minor adjustments when you make the next gas stop.

If dynojet doesn't develop this product first, they may find they have some serious competition.
This system would have disclaimers like (for off road use only.) It would prob. be illegal in many states.

IVAN updated new TRE for Kawis, got it in hand. Still not sure if im going to use it or the ignition module yet. Ive been told SpeedOHealer if set up right can do same thing with secondary flys removed and a good map on the PCIII.

It will work on any machine whose speed limiter retards the spark in top gear if it's programmed to use the spark curve of an unretarded gear. On ZX-14s, the speed limiter works by cutting fuel supply, so eliminating the timing retard does nothing in that regard.

I BETTER GET A REFUND THEN! CAUSE IT SAYS IT RIGHT ON THE PACKAGE AS WELL AS ZX14R,RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF ME!!!

You'll need to do top-speed runs with and without the Ivan's TRE to know for sure. Notice the package says, "disables speed limiter" not "disables top speed limiter"

Direct from Ivans site:

TRE-008 - $70.00
2006 - 2010 ZX-14
Increases power below 6000 rpm!
Does not disable speed limiter
Gets rid of part throttle timing retarder in lower gears.
Allows 6th gear (fastest rate in stock ECU) throttle plate opening rate.

TRE-006A - $60.00
2006 & up ZX-14
Requires sub-throttle plate removal & special mapping.
Gets rid of fuel shut-off on decell -
This will allow smooth on/off throttle transitions and will get rid of the annoying pop when the throttle is reapplied.
Gets rid of part throttle timing retarder in lower gears.
Our maps are only available with a minimum purchase of $200.00 or more.
