So, maybe I'm retarded, but why are the speedos inaccurate from the factory?

That just seems like a liability for Kawasaki and I can't think of any logical reason they do it, but obviously there is because they do it.

On a side note, or I guess more on topic haha, you guys are a bad influence. This thread is making push my top speed. Hit 149 today (without a speedo healer).
Don't have a clue. New car speedos are extremely accurate.

I think they're under the mistaken impression that it will keep us alive, as maybe we won't ride as fast if we think we're going faster than we are. This is, of course, completely retarded.

and $20k later... you coulda bought 2 14r's.

i just did the -1 front on my 05 zx6r,the other nite i was riding w a group of friends and i put it in 6th and held it wide open.it said 174 all 5 times that i looked down.i way 205 in full gear.this was on a cool nite on a long flat rode.all i have is a modded stock muffler and the -1 frnt sprocket.

Here's a spreadsheet that shows mathematically that the top speed of an 07-08 ZX6R completely stock is 183 mph at the 16,500 RPM redline.

It will actually probably be less because even with high tire pressure, your rear tire is going to deform a small amount and reduce the distance between the axle and ground by a small amount. And if you also consider a small amount of tire slip you're probably around 178-180 mph.

Of course this is theoretical because a stock ZX6R doesn't make enough power to push it through the wind at 180 mph. Seems like most people hit between 160 and 165 mph depending on rider weight.

Finally hit the rev limiter in 6th earlier tonight... managed a sweet 161mph. I've never seen lines fly by me that fast, it was crazy!

I don't need to tell all you guys to ride safe. I have not been to the track yet but my bike has, its a track bike I bought off a track guy. The bike tells me to give it more all the time. I hit top speeds only once in a while on the local, almost always clear highways here in N.S. It's the mid range of this bike that im most impressed with.

Theres a video on you tube where a zx6r p8 hits 281kph on the autobahn, which is 173 mph.
