**REMINDER** - This is the last month to enter for the chance to qualify for the ROTY competition

New ROTM Format!

** The new format will be an 11 month ROTM contest. Each monthly winner from January to November will be entered into a final poll in December for everyone to choose their favorite bike for the RIDE OF THE YEAR (ROTY). **

The winner of the ROTY will win a zxforums.com t-shirt with their member name/bike and ROTY Champion on the back.
Assuming product and vendor is still available - if not we will think of something else for a prize.

-All bikes entered must belong to a ZXFORUMS.com registered member.

-All competitors must have at least 50 posts to enter the competition. We want to ensure prizes and glory go to real members of our forum.

-You must post a picture/pictures that everyone can see. No links!

-We would like to have some info on the bike, including year, model, mods, maybe a little story about the you and the bike.

-If the bike has won a Ride of the Month contest during the current ROTY campaign then you cannot enter that bike again. If you've got a new bike done differently...alright, I'll allow it.

-The entry must be a Kawasaki.

Once the deadline has passed, I will copy the entrant's posts to the voting thread to make voting easier. Also they will be added to the ROTY Voting Thread.

As always, the voting will be done in a separate thread found HERE

The story of my bike is quite long. I bought her a few years back and she was in pretty rough shape. Tank was rusted through, paint overspray was everywhere. She needed some serious TLC. She didn't run when I bought her from upstate NY.

After a lot of elbow grease I got her to a decent state of tune.

I got to the track right away where she was right at home!

I still wanted more!!! So the mods started.

I eventually splurged on an Airtech Endurance Bodywork Kit

I learned how to paint

Then I hit the track again!

I managed a 1:24 at Summit Point Main with a fouled spark plug.

Then I started to "Gel" with the bike.

Then on one magical day I got my bump to Expert Group

But I still wanted more!

I eventually scored my first set of Flat Slides

I put in some more track time (NCBIKE pictured) but I found that I still wanted more!!!!

With no mechanic experience I decided to challenge myself and so began my 779cc journey:

More painting in my homemade backyard paint booth

But disaster struck on a test ride last winter while trying to tune the Flat Slides. With
a foot injury that sidelined me for 3 months.

I hadn't yet figured out a way to mount all the wires neatly.

There was a lot of trial and error but things eventually started to come good.

Disaster struck again when I set the valve lash too tight

I went back to work

With a little creativity, I made my own tools to get the job done.

Got the ports polished quite nicely.

Gave each valve the attention it deserved.

Got the head done the way it should be done.

Final assembly

Added some well placed decals for flare

...and gave some attention to the "Details"

My creative genius kicked in and then solutions for problems started to form in my imagination.

Genesis 2:7: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Everything resulted in roughly a 8hp gain in the midrange over my piped '02 ZX7R for the street
and also a 10hp gain over a Piped and Mapped GSX-R750 from 7,500 - 10,000rpm on the same dyno. Not to mention a significant weight savings.

At the moment, I'm handling an issue with the Oil Pump Screen and it should be resolved this week.

There was so much more involved in this journey but this is the short version. The important thing
is that she's ready to rock for next season.

Drag seat from Custom Composites. That's where the screws go in each nostril :wink2:
I like the look of it. It's like a fire breathing dragon.
