So tired of hearing about this mess.

So many more important issues you should be focusing on and contacting congress about.

Taxes, corporate control of our government, end needless wars.. Etc.

Right, because these should just be ignored. Got it. Ignoring all the little shit is how we got into the mess we are in now, the government just kept passing little bills here and there that added up in the long run.

So, instead of being a cranky old fart, take 5 seconds out of your life to fill this out and press send. Then you can say you did your part.

Its just like voting, if you cant be bothered to vote, then dont bitch about whoever is president. And dont complain later if you didnt do anything about it and your favorite website is taken down.

Thats all you have to do. 5 seconds, and move on to whatever other important thing you feel like complaining about.

It would be nice to forget about the little stuff and concentrate on what matters, but we can't because they don't. Government would rather mess with this stuff instead of fixing the bigger issues that took some thought.

sounds typical lately. they just bicker between themselves about pointless things and don't take care of the important matters. typical election year too. from what i heard, SOPA/PIPA is gone though

In case you've been in a cave, the mess we're in was caused by government NOT doing it's job and letting the moneyed few run wild making profits for nothing produced but paper.

In the case for stopping SOPA and PIPA, Lord knows we can't afford to be prevented from downloading shop manuals for free instead of paying for them.

Being a World Power is just a good way to waste thousands of lives and trillions of dollars defending someone else's freedom they're too lazy to fight for themselves.
the government just needs to get their collective heads out of their asses. there as so many more important things that people would LOVE to see them do, but instead they go wasting time on something that the people are clearly against and that really doesn't make too much sense. the SOPA/PIPA bills were knee-jerk reactions by them. I understand the idea of shutting down certain stuff, but they went wayyyyyy too far with this broad spectrum thing

I think that we should start using our own oil for awhile. IMO that will help us here at home, and in tern, if we stop buying from over seas for a little while, they will lower prices and beg us to buy from them again.

Thats all from me for now.......the floor is now yours :smile

The laws are already in place to protect copyrighted material. These laws are being pushed through in order to give the government the power to censor anything they want on the internet. But it is up to the copyright holders to defend themselves, as it should be.

Will it seriously affect anyone? No, not in the short term. You aren't going to see blackouts of half the internet like some of those clowns are crying about.

And I was not being specific about anything, so you can take that "government didnt do its job" argument elsewhere. There have been plenty of bills passed that "accidentally" created a massive amount of loopholes. But that is way off topic.

Imho the federal government was put in place for the most part to regulate interstate commerce and all the power was supposed to be had by state government and local municipalities. I would hardly call dangling money over state governments regulating commerce . The feds regulation of the internet should stop at internet companies that ship products to other states... period .

You should read up on some of the potential unintended consequences (or possibly intended, if you're into conspiracies) of this legislation. It seems many people think the uproar is over stopping free downloads of copyrighted software. It's not. It's about giving the government over-reaching power to shut down websites at will with little to no justification.

And if you knew who was spearheading this legislation, you'd realize that this is a shining example of corporate control of our government. The music and media industry has sunk millions into lobbying for this legislation.

As I already said, if you think that's the issue you need to read up more instead of listening to some soundbyte or reading a headline and assuming that's the issue. It's about freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and the government grasping for evermore power to take away our liberties.
