Ok, so I have been fighting with my bike trying to figure out why it is running like crap.. I finally figured it out.. I have a blown head gasket.. It never overheated.. I guess just due to age.. But water is mixing with my oil... Mine is a 94 zx7.. Prior to this it ran very well.. So I am not sure what to do.. I have 50k on the clock.. I was thinking of swapping something in fuel injected.. So now would be the time to do it.. I just want to do the right thing... Buy the right engine.. Would a zx9 or zx11 swap right in? Could I reuse my carbs on either if I go that route?

Swapping isnt a matter of just tossing it in the bike in most cases.

Some ZX9 engines will swap in, but they are carbed... idk about 11s though, and I believe you can't just reuse the carbs with all models.

Others will have more info, but replacing the headgasket is not that big of a deal.

Try cheatcycle parts.com, I think Id try fixing it if it was running good before.
I'm not sure, But I believe your going to need the carbs to if you swap engines.
Also the new motor will not just fit right in, But i think it can be made to. In any event,
Your looking at a lot of work & $$$ to swap for a 9 or 11 motor.
Hell a ZX10 efi motor might be a better rout to take.???
