Opinions....when racing do y'all let off throttle while shifting? I've gotten in the habbit of just leaving throttle wide open while going through all gears...input or advice?

Lol...sorry, not every gear from 3 on for sure!
Many riders without a quick-shifter, air-shifter, or powershifter blip the throttle quickly to unload the tranny just a little. I'm one of those kind. It's a clutchless upshift. If the bike has some type of shifting aid, the electronics will reduce engine power for a few milliseconds effectively doing the same thing. If you continue your full throttle upshifting, you may shorten the life of your tranny, maybe not.

when i know i have a launch ahead of me i start out in second. shifting high rpms in 1st to 2nd could ruin that shifter drum and other pieces. remember ur tryin to clear thru neutral as well. and with a stock tranny and components, id let off the gas when shifting. seems like u wanna burn a ring, but going from full load to nothing to full load a buncha times is gonna wear something out. my buddy had to part his out due to similar stories. he broke his crank shaft in half which dislodged some bearings and ruined the casing. bottom line is try to wait till leaving second to start all that redline shifting, ride carfeully and hope everything turns out well for ya

What started this question for me is when my buddy and I get on it, he use to pull away a little on every shift between 3-6....he told me how he does it, redline each gear and blip clutch without letting off throttle..now I'm side by side with him

What's the rush and who were you trying to impress that day?

Get an air-shifter like Clark's suggesting. Then you'll really impress the hell out of people.

BTW, you and your buddy are going through redline in 6th gear at the track, yes? Thought so.
