Well i have a Bel RX65 Radar Detector....i what this to be a discussion on which radar detector you prefer. What kind and why? Or maybe to are against radar detectors....what's your opinion on them???? Or past experiences with radar detectors........

Personly, from experience my radar detector saved my a** soo many time's i just lost track....ecpesially(sp) on the freeways. In the city it catches the K and Ka band of a police detector before he even shows up, way to many close calls. I think that haveing a radar detector is a very good investment....... I did get pulled over for speeding once, the police officer never even saw the radar even though it was in front of his face!!!!! I've had this radar detector for over a year now and got pulled over once for speeding but talked my way out of the ticket. Also i do prefer the more expensive ones over the cheap(below $200) ones! As they say you get what you paid for.....and that's exactly right with the radar detectors!!!!

Also feel free to visit the following site if you are interested on buying a radar detector or acceseries!!!

I am an avid supporter and user of the Escort 8500 X50 radar detector, with the direct line power, and the H.A.R.D. system that goes in the helmet. With the new 10R, I plan on adding the Escort ZR2 Laser Jammer into the system.

They are a must have for a motorcycle.

I have a Bell Vector966r and it works great... only they are illegal here. If police will find them with their radar detector detector it's gonna cost €250 at least!
I'm now looking into this: http://www.stinger.com
I think in general they contribute to safer driving/riding.

www.stinger.com is kinda in German...lol, i can't read German!!! I think as long as your radar detector detects VG2, VG4, and Spectre III you'll be ok, they wont get you for haveing a radar detector unless they see it, then that's a bummer!!! There in the US it's illigal to even have one on in the car in the states of Washington DC, and Virginia!!!! But everywhere else you can have them....

I have a Cobra ESD 9210 that I installed a speaker jack into and it seem to work OK. Hate the safety alert as it over rides some radar features. So far no tickets.

I was researching it, i'm guessing they would use the same system for the radar guns here?

Ive been doing some research lately and am really looking into the Escort 8500 X50 radar detector. And im thinking about just going all the way and getting the laser jammers mounted in the front and back of the bike....ill call it my little "stealth mission". the bike would practically be invisible to police scanners and radar...and im not to sure but i don't think cops can hold anything against you without a proper speed reading...then again they could just make it up...its happened to me before

You can have a radar dectector in VA in your vehicle or on your bike but it cannot have power supplying it. Best friend is a detective in York County so I bug him with all the legal aspects of this motorcyle life. He rides an R1 but he's alright in my book. Anyways back on Radar detectors. The cruisers in VA (State and Local) Have, believe it or not, radar detector detectors. So If you think your gonna sneek around and not get caught, youve got a second thing comming. Down here it is a $250 fine if you get caught using one. This is why I cant wait to transfer to mississippi in June!:)

Up in Canada they have the RDD's (detector detector) as well.

They use conventional radar, and have now switched to Laser. They can pick you in the middle of a pack and as soon as they hit you with the little dot, they've got you.

The worst part is this. If they catch you with a radar detector, you get fined, and they confiscate the detector. Here's the kick in the N*TS.... they retro your confiscated RD, and turn it into an RDD.

Sneaky buggers.

When you find out what kind of Radar Detector you want, if it's one of the top priced detectors(ranging $150-$300), they come with an optional Power Adapter, which is a 10 foot power cord that you tie on to your bike battery and feed it to you radar detector!

This site will get you all of the mounts that you can imagine for your bike, they are very easy to setup and do not cost as much! Here http://www.radarbusters.com/products/accessories/motorcyles/mounts/default.asp !!!

I would really recommend you getting the Escort 8500 X50 with the H.A.R.D system, and the Laser Jammers!!! This will be the best investment you will ever make on you bike!!!

Laser Jammers and ONLY protect you from LASERS!!! How it works is....

The cop is standing in his/her car and here you are coming down the street doing 45mph in a 30!!! The police officer point his laser gun at you headlights/license plate and pulls the trigger!!! Intantaniously(sp) your radar detector screems LASER and activates your Laser Jammer!!! The police officer looks at his little display on the Laser Gun and it reads ERROR!!!

Like i said Laser Jammers and Scanners DO NOT protect you from Radar Guns like X-band, K-band and, Ka-band, also in Europe Ku-band!!!

You can hard-wire it to the battery. There are lots of mounting possibilities.
I think I would mount it with the suction cups and actually screw the mount through the windscreen with a couple machine screws and lock nuts. With black screws it actually might look trick to have some flathead screws showing on the outside of the screen.

A full laser jammer setup is expensive.
