So it's official, I'm now a EX rider. I picked my 08 250r Saturday and have a few questions. The fuel gauge doesn't work, is this a hard fix? the gas cap makes a high pitch cow sounding noise every minute or so, almost like it's releasing pressure. is this a serious concern? The bike runs good, has a little trouble getting cranked but once it's warmed up it'll crank on the spot.

Just picked up my License plate and insurance today. But it just so happened to start raining and the forecast shows rain for the rest of the week. :banghead

AFAIK that is still a carbed bike. If so, you could try cleaning them. Assuming everything is the right size, and the carbs are clean, it should start right up with no problem.

I think only non-US models got EFI.

As for the fuel gauge, make sure its actually hooked up.

And btw, you still aren't a ZX rider. That is an EX xD
Contrary to what half of the internet will tell you (youtube videos mentioning their "ZX"250R for example).

Regardless, it certainly LOOKS like a zx - no complaints from me about looks on that bike.

idk about cow noise, but my 500 made all sorts of hissing and whistling noises from the tank vent. Most of the time I never noticed it while riding.

normal. they all do it. just releasing pressure. It gets worse as the outside temp increases.
It's just whistling at you and telling you to ride. The whistling stops.

another question, I just installed some aftermarket rear turn signals and is it common for them to make a noise when they activate. It stops as soon as they start blinking.

Oh, and I'm legally able to drive on the road now. Got my tag and insurance but it's F-ing raining and will keep doing so for the next few days :banghead:banghead

I had an 09, it whined so bad and so oftern she was eventually named Mona by a friend. Everyone said it was just gas escaping, but it does it so much less on my zx6.
