Whenever I changed gear slowly from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd - there's grinding noise when i do it slowly - but if i do it fast aroudn 4000rpm - no noise. My bike is 1998 zx600e - any help? Is it my 2nd gear or the shifter or the spocket? Thanks.

Most likely the dogs clattering together. You should be shifting well after 4000rpm anyways.

Make sure that your clutch is correctly adjusted, and then make sure that the shift lever is correctly attached to the shifter shaft.

Watch this vid, when I shift from 4th to 5th the dogs don't align correctly and you get a clattering noise. This can be solved by making sure you hold in the clutch the entire time you're "shifting." And making sure you're at the correct(ish) speed when you shift.
