Sunday afternoon I tried to warm up my beloved ZX11, and while running the engine smoothly at 1500 rpm, suddenly a scaring noise started. It seemed coming from the clutch zone, but inmediately come to my mind the dreaded third rod. Turned off the engine with bewilderment, started again, and the noise still was there.
Today I took the bike to my mechanic friend, and drained the oil waiting to find it clean, and fortunately it was, then I removed the clutch cover, and found the well known guilty: the alternator chain tensioner.
The wear of the clutch spring plate that I found I think was made by another "incident" with the previous owner, but not by this tensioner break (the oil was too clean).
Now the challenge will be find a new part, I have hopes that the local Kawasaki agent could have it, but I not discard having to make manual the broken tensioner.
