Ordered 2 16t front sprockets. Both made by Vortex, on is Nickel plated, the other is Zinc plated. Difference? One better than other?

Yup. Maybe just a tich harder than the zinc,
but, either way, it's just plating.

Nickel is heavier and will eventually chip\peel off. my dad did this for 20 yrs before he retired. He was an electro-plater and he specialized in zinc finishes and all other types of plating. The nickel will look just like a chrome sprocket would look but it will come off as soon as the chain mares the finish on the sprocket teeth.
