why is he calling the cops? I'm assuming the noise of the wrenching, bike starting, that kinda thing? if its during normal hours and at a reasonable level there isn't much trouble you can get in unless your neighborhood has other restrictions. what have the cops said to you?

Not much the neighbor can do after 7 am and before 9 or 10 pm.

If you're wrenching at midnight you're awesome, but I'd kick your ass too.

Yeah, what time and what are the cops saying?

I had these fucking fat welfare recipients calling the cops on me every damn day when I had my 125cc Enduro, talking about how I keep "riding dirtbikes in the street".

Cops showed up every time, looked at the street legal bike, and then said have a nice day.

Nosy neighbors

I would go to the hunting supply store and buy some skunk oil and get a syringe without the needle on it and fill it with the skunk oil and soak his front door\porch with it........DO NOT SPILL IT!!!! If the syringe is big enough you should be able to squirt up 50' You don't want to piss me off, If i was your neighbor you had better be nice and polite or face my wrath.:eek:hno

unfortunately for you.. you live in california. land of fruits and nuts with leaders who violates my 2nd amendment.

Police still has to respond on such calls, keep the noise down within the hours listed on article 4 section 114.01 and you will be fine ;)

SEC. 114.01. VEHICLE REPAIRS.
(Amended by Ord. No. 156,363, Eff. 3/29/82.)

It shall be unlawful for any person, within any residential property located within any residential zone of the City or within 500 feet thereof, to repair, rebuild, reconstruct or dismantle any motor vehicle between the hours of 8:00 p.m. of one day and 8:00 a.m. of the next day in such manner:

(a) That a reasonable person residing in the area is caused discomfort or annoyance;

(b) That such activity is audible to the human ear at a distance in excess of 150 feet from the property line of the noise source:

(c) As to create any noise which would cause the noise level on the premises of any occupied residential property, or if a condominium, apartment house or duplex, within any adjoining unit, to exceed the ambient noise level by more than five (5) decibels.

Ambient noise + 5 db? WTH? An idling Geo Metro is going to be over 5 db of ambient noise.

That law code is a crock written and passed by tree hugging ****.

i think thats 5db within 150feet :)

but thats up to the judge to translate it himself or herself. if you take this little thing to court, they will probably sentence you to life with possible parole in 5 years if you pass the 5db. HAHAH

That is a little harsh, but not too out of the ordinary. Just a noise ordinance. The question is, was OP doing this outside of those hours?

im just interested on what you are doing tho? are you revving your engine? hammering things?

if you are an honest person, and you believe that you are within your rights doing such work, you can actually file for harrasment.when you file, justmention that you are compliant within the article 4 section 114.01, the case becomes valid and say your neighbor just hates you.
However... if you get s second complaint from another neighbor, then you just hand feeding a lion

I was working on my bike at 10 am. I'm not revving it, however it keeps bogging down. So I have restarted it a lot.

The cop was cool about it. He said it was the same level sound that a lawn mower makes. It was the same guy that came out the last two times. He said he has to come out when they get a call. He keeps telling me that he doesn't know how I stop this lady from calling. I have tried to talk to this woman about other things and she just hates me and my family.

Can I call this in or do I have to go down there.

Let her keep doing it, and get real cool and friendly with the 5-0. I am telling you, a cool cop is a great thing to have on your side.

going down to the station is too much work, the best and most smartest is wait for another officer to arrive and ask to file a report with him or her. at least he can bare witness to exactly what you are doing.
but unfortunately that really does not help, every taxpayers has the right to call the police for anything even if a cat is stuck on a tree.

what does work is ask the officer to escort you to the persons doorstep and try to resolve the issue like a good neighbor, if the neighbor becomes mouthy, the officer will side with you and they can actually ask the neighbor to not call unless its an emergency. and thats only ASK, not demand.
