I hope I'm not the extreme minority here. While I luv my Concours 14 it is a very tall bike and I would like to get more of my footsies on the pavement. Does anyone know of or have an idea for lowering the Concours? Anyone ever have their seat coushions shaved? How about replacing the center shock absorber with an air operated one?

You probably can have your seat shaved/cut down by a custom upholstery shop.
I'll bet Corbin and Sargent are working on seats of their own for the GTR, keep an eye on them.

Just curious, what is your height and inseam??

I have the same problem. 30" inseam has me on tip toes. Will be looking at lowering seat height and raising boots.

Lower the seat height

I think that it is not at least in the minority in Japan. :smile

When I also straddled the 1400GTR, I wanted to have my feet on the ground.
In this respect, the ZZR1400 is superior to the 1400GTR.

It seems that the suspension manufacturer is developing the suspension for the 1400GTR.

Cf. “Suspension for 1400GTR” (#2), “Suspension lowering? ”

Keep in mind that lowering the seat is not the only thing that happens, in effect you are raising your pegs, raising the bars, and raising the windshield. This could effect comfort in a big way, just to stand flat footed at a stop light. May not be worth it.

It won't be long before the Gel seat is out and that lowers seat height by 30mm (11/2") which will allow most pilots to go flat footed. If K has made the gel 30mm lower then it can't effect the body position comfort wise too drastically.

Great news about the Gel seat being lower, but think your imperial to metric conversion might be out a bit, 25mm to the inch therefore 30mm is 1 1/5" (1.2"):nana .
Regardless any improvement is worth having and I will most definately be getting a gel seat as soon as they're available!

hehe I bow to your calculator, but as I said for me its a must have anyhow, more so due to suffering numb bum after an hour in the saddle. The fact its lower is a huge bonus but not a deciding factor in my choice.

I have a mate in the unit next to me who does bike seats and covers and shapes and reupholsters them to custom requirements using Marine grade vinyls which are harder wearing than the standard vinyls used.. I plan on getting some gel pads and get him to make up a sexy cover like wot GarryG had done in an earlier post. Recons he should be able to do it for me for about £100 plus the gel pads which I have to supply as he doesn't have any suitable.

one solution is the seat from ZZR1400, last night a friend of mine and i (he wons a zzr14) we switch the seats of the bikes (zzr 14 is the same size and shape as gtr) the difference is in the hooks (zzr is shaped as a pin) slipping the seat in the gtr and magic was made.. feet flatted
the difference of near 4cm in high, its not as comfy as gtr seat but it work's

sorry the English errors

Sounds like it would be good for me, but I don't think the wife would like it very much. I'm sure it would be slated way too much forward for her.
