Anyone riding a lowered or stretched ZX12R? I just bought an '01 ZX12R and its a wheelie machine. Full throttle in first gear is impossible. I'm planning on lowering it because its a bit tall for me. Considering getting an extended swing arm too. I know these mods will be bad for my handling, but I'm wondering how bad. Anyone already riding with these mods? How do you like it and how does it handle. I'm more of a straight liner but I don't want to just throw my handling out the window.

I've got a 2000 12 R with a 6" extended arm and it certainly affects the handling around the city but not horribly so. I was amazed when I got it out to some really great roads in TN how well it did handle. The one thing it absolutely does is eliminate unintended wheelies.

By placing your body hard against the tank you can eliminate most all of the wheelie nonsense without compromising the 12's excellent handling..or marring it's beauty. Unless you are already really a slug on challenging roads, any change in wheelbase will have an adverse effect on handling.

I drag race. I've never been really good at the twisties. Though now that I own the 12 I'm really impressed on how well it turns especially for such a big bike. It really gives me the confidence to lean harder into the corners. Before this bike I had a ZX11. It never felt like it could carve a corner. I order lowering links for the 12 that have not arrived yet. I'll ride them for a while before I decide on a 4 inch over arm.
