I'm not that familiar with the Kawi system but most cars using this system allow the dealer to reprogram your ECU with a master key to accept new keys. I would check with another dealer before you shell out $700. As far as I know there is no way to bypass the immobilizer without reprogramming the ECU. Its not just some voltage applied to the right place. The lock, the key, and the ECU exchange some encrypted numbers and if the ECU doesn't like what it sees it won't start the bike. No way to get around that.

Besides, even if I knew how to do it I don't think I would tell someone who's very first post on a board was essentially asking how to hotwire a bike.

If this is a genuine enquiry.....:headscratch

Sounds like it should be covered under insurance.

Otherwise an auto locksmith that specialises in vehicle immobilisers & electronics will probably be able to help if another dealer can't.

To be honest the initial enquiry does not make much sense :squint
What bike is it?

NO Master key for zx6r

My story is as follows....I purchased my 05 ZX636r at auction, it was a finance repossesion, and unfortunately after the auction i was told that it had a key, but it is only one of the duplicate keys. It still deactivates the immobiliser, but i have no master key to make copies.

Im really worried about losing the one key i have, and Ive been quoted in australia, $1800AUS to replace the whole ECU with keys and all.

Ouch!!!! was all i could say!! So im wondering if its possible to just change the ecu with another model from overseas, that didnt include the immobiliser(if that was the case overseas)

Anythoughts people??
