Picked up an 82 kz1000 frame and doing a ground up build with an 03-06 z1000 engine
Front end is from 07-08 zx6 and rear end is 80-82 gs1100e
Pretty much found a frame and started buying parts
Have to have a few hard parts machined up for the rear end and then mounts fabricated and welded for engine an radiator
Not much done for the engine stuff yet
Hoping to have a rolling chassis by spring

Can't get em to load with my iPhone
you using photobucket?
You need a service to host the pics, I think just about everyone sues photobucket.
Will the Z1000 Engine sit in the KZ frame in a way that allows the exhaust to fit around the frame and plug into the head?

I had a header for a z1000 and it fit in the frame rails
Worst case the engine becomes a stress member like modern bikes
It's gunna be a wild build but we'll see when I get there
Jowek,
I have a spare Muzzy 03 ZX9R full exhaust. It will not clear the 03-06 Z1000 suspension link, so I cannot use it. The link is way right on the 03-06 Z1000 compared to the ZX9R. This may clear yours if the linkage is more centered like the ZX9R. The header is great, aluminum can has some scratches but is still nice. PM me for details.

I have a spare can to use for this build
Is the header titanium?
I have a lead on a Leo Vince full ti exhaust for same gen zx9
They want a lot for it tho

Kz uses dual shocks out back so no linkage in the way
Pics?
That KZ 1000 would be a nice site to see, post when you can.
This is what I have so far; been a few months since I've done any work to it. Picking up some hard parts from the machine shop next week to get the rear end sorted out and hoping to get a few minor things to have a roller. Most of the work will take place in the fall and next winter.

Damn, I missed your update. I do still have the header. It is steel. PM me if you still need something.

Are the frame down tubes going to interfere with the exhaust ports on the head?

Good luck. I hope it sits in the frame in a way that will work.

Since I im swapping calipers and from master on my zx6rr that gives me a free set for my kz
Probably keep them gold but will have to use 07-08 zx6 rotors to match the forks

Sorting out the rear brake as well but since the Suzuki swingarm uses a bar to keep the rear caliper from rotating when you apply the break I will have to find a way to do the same with the zx6 caliper without the bar.
