92 zx7 Work. Motor from?? Tail swap Ect Ect

Short info then pictures. I bought this bike off clist with owner telling me he was told its a 01 with 02 motor and 92 fairings. Now obvisously i could tell frame wasnt an 01 since there are no airdam holes. but the price was right and ran real good. My original hope was to replace all fairings and make look like an 01. Is this posible without these holes in frame? has it been done? Finally is this actually a 7? There is no original kawasaki plate on frame as it has a special construction title. I just want to know what i actually have here lol. Has a zx6 guage cluster but from what i have seen without tearing it apart yet it Does apear to be a 90s zx7. Please any help would be great. I can and will post beter and more pictures tomorrow after work and not raining.

I'm sure you could put on 96-03 fairings but w/o the air dam holes, the air ducts would be for show. Why would you want to make the front look like a 96-03, IMO the gas tank tubes look cool. The tail is what I would look to change http://www.zxforums.com/forums/zx-7r-forum/58165-r6-tail-swap.html just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to cut holes in the frame, but I think it could be done if you really wanted to. Why would you want to make the front look like a 96-03, IMO the gas tank tubes look cool. No i deff agree im not about to alter the frame in anyway. Kinda had my mind set on the 96/03 look guess i let the owner get a fast one on me since the price was right lol. Still a great bike i love it and shes so loud sounds amazing with her full muzzy. Started right up today even as its snowing outside lol. Ill check out that tail swap that will deff make it look nicer. That solo tail on there now not really my style anyway.

Frame always dictates year of the bike, even if everything else was swapped. Run the vin off the headstock.

Well title says 01 But its a special construction title for some reason. i assume they lost title or something like that idk honestly but its a legit valid title i had it checked before purchase. It has a special vin number plate from maryland where it was retitled specail in 01. It is my understanding its classified an 01 because thats when it was retitled but idk really. Ill check for vin stamp tomorrow after work and post. Thanks everybody. Cant wait for a warmer day to come around so i cn actually take her out before i tear her down for a check up.

The frame is a 95 at the newest due to the lack of the aluminum upright piece that runs up toward the seat front on the 96 and up frames. My guess is its a 91-92 that was wrecked in the front and rebuilt with parts from some other zx model bike and retitled in 01. If you decide to change out the tail for a non solo setup I'd be interested in the tail and exhaust bracket. I'm sure i have some parts i can trade you as well to change it over.

There is a chance that is a real R model. The tank kinda looks like an aluminum one (welded seam on the bottom instead of the standard pinch weld), has the R model bottom fork adjusters as well as the correct exhaust hangar. I could be seeing things on the pics for the tank, but stick a magnet on the tank, if it sticks it is not an R model tank. The tail has been swapped, as it does not have the opening in the rear for the butt cushion or someone fiberglassed over the opening.

Take a look at the VIN and let us know if the VIN is JKAZXDJ or JKAZXDK. Does it have CV carbs or FCR carbs?
