For the last couple of months I have been noticing some liquid on the inside of my windshield and on the gauges. I am pretty sure it's some kind of oil because it doesn't feel like water. I have No idea where it is coming from. It looks like it might be coming out of the brakes but I don't see any fluid around the master cylinder and reservoir. I have no idea what it could be. Any ideas? Weird thing is that sometime I see the liquid after leaving the bike parked for a day or two.

Yep its almost certainly brake fluid, Unless your clutch is hydraulic.
Iv had this happen to me, whats happening is, Under heavy pressure the brake fluid
is squirting out.
Its only doing this from time to time, Not an actual leek that you can see all the time.
Have you noticed any sponginess in the lever at any time?

Mine was coming from the banjo bolts at the master, You need to stop this before you ride again.
Also brake fluid will ruin your paint.

So whats you take? Got an idea what it is?
Obviously it is either brake or clutch fluid....

or blinker fluid.

Josh

PS there is a reason a lot of racers use those wrist sweatbands around their brake and clutch reservoirs to wick away any leakage. It does happen.

Well a brake fluid leak is a much more serious problem than a leaky clutch res.

Well...

You have 2 brakes. If the front leaks out you still have to the rear brake to get home.

You run out of clutch fluid your SOL if you have to stop along the way.

And if ya get killed because your front brake suddenly fails, You won't be worried about getting home.
Rear breaks are for shit & we know it.

You mentioned a leak not sudden loss of front braking.

Rear brakes are crap, but it will get you home.

Seriously? :rotflmao

ALL ZX7's have a hydraulic clutch :mfclap GTFO

Josh
The clutch also uses brake fluid, so if its oil... then its either fork oil or brake fluid.

I'll have to try that.

Where its getting on the windscreen, Is it just in front of the Banjos on the master?
I had this exact same problem a few years ago, Just needed to tighten that joint down,
& problem solved.
You might want to throw some new crush washers on.
