No idea about prices in the USA but yes the ZZR600 is a rebadged older version of the ZX-6R. The ZX600E (ZX-6) is the forerunner of the ZX-6R anyway & was Kawasaki's mid range supersports offering when it was first released being replaced by the ZX-6R in the mid '90's & being relegated to a sports tourer. The 'E' is a very capable bike, suitable for just about anything on the road including two up.

More info on ZX600E from

Technical info for ZZR600E as it was called in the UK
Model Codes - 1993 on ZX600E
C.C. - 599
B.H.P. - 100
Top Speed (M.P.H.) - 150
Standing 1/4 mile (seconds) - 11.5
M.P.G. (range or average) - 45
Dry weight (kg) - 195
OEM tyre sizes (front & rear) - 120/60 ZR17, 160/60 ZR17

i went and checked out the bike today. it was great. very comfortable and i loved the paint. it was dropped once, from the rider slipping while backing it up, so there is some faring damage on the left side.

but other than that the bike is immaculate.
