Recently I had wanted to retrofit my GPS to fit onto my bike. However, I did not want it hanging in the air, or hanging from the windscreen, or being an eye sore in general. This left out most of the RAM mount options that people love.

I decided to make my own custom mount using the hole in the steering stem.

I used one:
small 1 inch piece of fuel line
1.5 inch screw
Various nuts and washers

I took the stock GPS mounting clip and drilled a small hole in the middle of it so that the screw fit through it. I then super-glued the nut and a washer to the end of the fuel line. You slide the piece of fuel line into the steering stem and as you tighten the screw it expands the rubbers into the sidewalls of the stem and really anchors it down.
Seems solid- although I will probably use some secondary security method to make sure it doesn't fall out of the clip.
Should work for any bikes that have a hole in the steering stem! Mine is a 2000 ZX9

ive been thinking about a RAM mount for my tablet. But then I realized I am cheap and can just build one.

And superglue is not very strong. I would suggest a two part epoxy at minimum.

Velcro

They sell Velcro self-adhesive rolls at Lowes/Home Depot. You could affix J Velcro to the fixed parts and the loop Velcro to the GPS unit and/or make some wrap belts that could go around it.

Nice work Z!
