I'm going to change the gearing on my bike.I have the speedohealer unit.I used my wifes GPS to set it with my current gearing a couple years ago.But I had to use the suction cup on my tach.I see the new ones have lifetime map updates. Can you use an automotive unit?Which motorcycle one do people have?Need some help cause I do alot of back roads and think it would be cool to have.

I use the Garmin Zumo 500 and have for nearly 5 years. PERFECT for me.
People love it because it's motorcycle specific but also comes with full mounting not only for your bike but car too.
People hate it because they don't want to spend $650+ on it.
Here'a pic of it's cradle mount on my 14. You can google the GPS itself. Best prices on these I've seen is GPScity.com

The motorcycle ones are so much more than the car ones...but...I went with garmin 660. On screen buttons are large for gloved hands. Supposedly they are meant to handle the extra vibrations of being mounted on a bike.

It came off the bike at 45 mph, bounced, got run over and sat until I could turn around and get it. Other than the front decorative plate breaking, the unit works just fine.
