So I have a 03 636 and the paint is pretty tired on it. I can't remember the color name but its some mazda gray as stated by previous owner. Its decent, just littered with chips and marks up front from road debris and the tail fairing was repainted sometime, for whatever reason, and the color match is terrible. I don't use the seat cowl anymore because it makes it look very noticeable and just plain ugly. From the edges and chips I could tell the bike was originally red, so i'm leaning towards originality with a red color (my helmet is red white and black as well), but part of me thinks that with any color choice (since my painter is charging a flat rate regardless of which color) I could really do something cool and unique with something else. Problem is I have no idea what. So what color would you choose? I know I'm gonna hear alot of kawi green but i've already decided that's just not my kind of thing. My first choice right now is R77-formula red which looks awesome on my dad's acura nsx. If you have ideas i need the make/model/year of the vehicle the paint color is from OR the 3 digit paint code if I want the painter to actually be able to find/mix it.

An older pic but still this color:

I assume your painter iws talking about a solid paint color only. candies and pearls with color shifting can be downright expensive. You cannot beat a high quality gloss black piant job. You must look at some of his previous work. If there is orange peel or a particles of dust in the paint, the shiny black will look flawed. With red, the paint doesn't have to be that perfect. If your painter has the confidence to do a first rate black paint job, have him do it. Don't do the metalflake black, just straight dark dark black.

Note: You will never have a problem matching anything with black. You will have to be constantly cleaning/polishing your paint. but you like to do that, don't you ??

I was going to go with that green, but decided my fairings were too fucked up. I may still fix them, but it will take a LOT of work. So I went with the fleabay instead.

The camaro green would have been about 300 in paint alone, including all the hardeners, primers, all that stuff.

The wheels do need attention but I have another wheel guy for that. One needs to be slightly straightened before painting them. They're just original black with the lip polished out. As for his previous work its awesome. Minimum 2 week turn around, all hand sanded and polished as well.

i always liked the dark red or burgundy. saw a ZX-11 that color years ago and liked it alot.

i recently repainted my ZX7. I used Dupont Nason paint mixed at a local paint shop. The main color was "Signal Green" from the Dupont paint chips. they custom mized a darker green for my graphics and some silver metalic. it all came out pretty good for the first time painting anything more than a Jeep bumper with a rattle-can. :)

i tried to come up with another color.... but i went right back to the green.

I asked the same question when I painted my last Kwak. My first one was pink and I had trouble selling it, so I asked for advice. I got so many different answers that it was more confusing than ever. I had a can of red for my car - and it was almost identical to the original colour of the bike, under the rubbish rattle can job - so thats what it got.
The current one was always going to be white, I just didn't know which white :headscratch
Its the same colour as my car.
