Been tinkering around with my 95 ZX7, was having a problem getting the starter button to crank the starter. In the process of checking things, I've found the fuel pump to be locked up, probably burnt the relay too, cause after I unplugged the pump, the starter button cranked the motor, plug it up and nothing. Going to order a new pump.
My question is if I just jumped the fuel line from the petcock to pump straight to the carbs, would it feed enough fuel to run like normal. If so I could eliminate the pump altogether.

You should be fine that way till about half tank then you'll run out of fuel in the top end.

Is that because of there not being enough head pressure on the fuel?

I will most likely be running it full cause for consistency at the drag strip, so that won't be a problem.

Well thanks for all the help...got the thing running like a top. For sitting for a year and never moved, it rides great!!
Did a shakedown ride and everything is in working order. So bypassing the fuel pump works. Next weekend we'll see how she does at the 1/8 mile.
