Front suspension question

I probably don't know the correct wording to ask this (I did try search first) but my front suspension seems weak.

I ride an 08 ZX14 with about 2600 miles on it. When I hit any kind of bump at speed the front end seems to hit hard.

I am not a huge guy but I am about 220. Do I need to make adjustments to the front suspension to compensate for weight?

Not only is this uncomfortable but I can't think it is good for my bike.

Thanks in advance.

ZX-14s are notoriously undersprung in the front. The factory designed the fork to handle a 150lb rider (average weight of a Japanese man.)

If you have the preload cranked all the way down, your only alternative is to have heavier-rate springs fitted. Places like Race Tech or Traxxion Dynamics can sell you the parts of do the job if you send them the fork legs. It would also be a good idea to increase the fork oil weight if you have heavier-rate springs installed. Call one of those places and they will be happy to advise you on what spring would suit your weight and riding style.
