I am a collision painter, and will be tackling the task of matching the frame color. I'm not sure if the color changes over the different years. My 96 frame still has paint on it, but my 91 doesn't. Does anyone know if the years are all about the same for the gray color? Sometimes it's better to just over reduce your clear like about 200% to get a flat look. Also, some flattening clears will shine in spots that are rubbed on. Like a leg rubbing in the same spot over and over again.

I've used their paint several times and it's always matched.

Their chart chips may not be scan-friendly or look exact.

 

No frame paint at color-rite. Quite specific primer color too.

Twolare listed as Pearl Gentry Gray and the older one Silver #30. Again the chips on the charts are not 100% accurate representations. Color-Rite is likely protecting their products from copycats. I think if you actually use their paint according to instructions, they will guarantee a match.

 

Pearl Genrty gray is the color for 95-97 but $200 a qt is ridiculous....

Also it doesnt state whether its gloss, semi gloss, or flat clear over the base.

I just bought a 3-rattle can boxed set for BW II (Candy Plasma Blue) that included base, color and clear for $60 on Fleabay and it's enough for two side panels and an upper fairing, so if you're just touching up a frame, you shouldn't have to buy a whole quart.

If you're doing a factory-stock concours d'elegance restoration, a factory original muffler can go for more than $200.

I doubt you'll get an exact match to blend in with factory-original paint anywhere else if that's what you're attempting.
