I have a 00 zx7 and wanted to know if zx9 mid-pipe would fit my bike.
Tire Wheel Vehicle Fuel tank Automotive tire

This was the way I purchased it the first of the month. I realize that I am older than methuselas nuts. But for some strange reason, I like to be able to hear myself think. I really feel like I need a can on here to accomplish this. However (as the pic shows) Im also needing a mid pipe. I found a cheap can but no mid pipe on Amazon. There is one on there for the 9. Will that work in place of the stock one.
Cheers.
Hans
P.S. try not to laugh at the bike too much, cuz I am still crying.

@57x and @2fat2fly would be able to confirm. I know I have a D&D midpipe from a 94-97 zx9r on my 93 zx7. End can is a yoshimura

Go to your local muffler shop and they might be able to build you a mid pipe for not a lot of money. My local muffler shop built a mid pipe for my zx6r and charged me just 20 bucks and looks ok. I also got an ebay slip on and it looks decent now.

I really should have passed on this bike. Its been one issue after another. this is another month of not getting to ride it but I am starting to get her worried.
latest issues The repalcement res for the front brakes is leaking. bent clip ons. throttle cable I was sent is too short and revs the bike when the bar is turned to the right. Mis-matched rearsets and the front rotors are toast.
latest victories I now have new (MIC) bar controls. Stock mirrors which I cant see shit out of. an (MIC) plate hanger. I did an oil change with Motul 300v Flushed the rad. drained and blew out the brake lines and clutch and replaced all three resevoirs with chia's best. (which are of course leaking) added a direct relay to the head lights. I also now have a *ahem horn. Since I believe in being heard rather than being flattened. The stock horn wont even make the next yard sale. Maybe one of those jackass train horns that some a$$ hats put in thier trucks to scare the F&%^ out of people. (It would more than likely cause a wreck rather than avoid one.)
Curently in the market for the following:
Left side stock rearset
Front rotors
Clip-ons just the bars
Stock kickstand (bike is going back to stock ride height)
Stock rear turn signals

Here is a progress pic or two. Still ugly but it at least looks legal now.

Exactly! its going to take time and money I dont yet have. But I will sort it out. I really like the bike, and the engine runs like a swiss.... Car. J/K

No the engine is the one saving grace about the whole bike. Its at 30k and the valves and cam chain sound like a sewing machine. Someone did the top end at some point in its life. The frame and sub are straight. the forks dont leak. Im pretty sure the rear shock is shot, but I wont know until after I try setting the rear to my weight. If anyone knows good settings for front and back to start from for 225lbs I would apreciate it.
I know that it will take fine tuning, but a starting point would be great.

Cheers,
Hans

Front, get some racetech gold valves. Shock, throw it in the street and get something aftermarket. Also, swap in 96+ linkage and dogbones.
I plan to go with racetech on the fronts. Not sure whats out there for the rear but I will look around. I do have one question. Its a 2k, so why change the dogbones and linkage? do I want an older one? I thought 96 thru 03 were the same?

I think he missed the year of your bike and thought you had a pre 96 zx7. So, don't worry about swapping the rear linkage and dogbones. You're good there.

I dont claim to be a Kawasaki expert but I am pretty sure the factory didnt intend on the fuel pump just laying loose and hanging out with the rear shock. does anyone have a picture of the required bracket and its location?

under the subframe, right below the RH subframe mount on the main frame. That's not even the oem fuel pump.

Naturally!

Im trying to like this bike, I really am. I need a drink...
You got this. The more work required, the better the feeling and when it's done.

If you want to relocate the fuel pump and filter to the original position, this will work. I wouldn't expect longevity from them, but they will last for a while until you get the oem stuff.

Schematic for the fittings required to refit. Several places have these parts, or you could track them down on ebay using the description and part numbers.
You will need : HOLDER,FUEL PUMP 13091-1738 ($19.76) and possibly some related hoses.

FYI, you need to remove the rear wheel to do this relocation without some major hand contortions. It will also give you the chance to do some wiring and hose inspection in the area.
Thanks for the information. I cant afford stands at the moment, so Ill find a way to zip tie the one thats there for right now. besides I have enough with bad parts to replace without replacing working ones just yet. I will order the bracketry and the pump for it a little later.

Cheers,
Hans
