I see in the Haynes Manual (page 0.10) regarding the ZX9R that the engine numbers are as follows for UK models:

for C1 (1998) through to F2 (2004)
ZX900CE000001 onwards

Does that mean that ALL engine parts are interchangable between the 1998 and 2004 models?

I own a 2000 E1 and if the answer to my question is true then it greatly widens my search when looking for 2nd hand parts.

C's have a cam position sensor, E and F's don't.
E and F's have a slightly longer output shaft for the wider rear wheel. Different cylinders and heads.
F engines have forward frame mounts slightly modified sump and clutch cover, I believe the crank is also slightly heavier.
So I suppose it depends on what you're after.

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like lots of little differences here and there and not as clear cut as I first expected.
