I belive the F is simply the generation/model year.

This is from wikipedia:
2 Model History
2.1 ZX900 (1994)
2.2 ZX900B3 (1996) and ZX900B4 (1997)
2.3 ZX900C1 (1998) and ZX900C2 (1999)
2.4 ZX900E1 (2000) and ZX900E2 (2001)
2.5 ZX900F1 (2002) and ZX900F2 (2003)
So yours being a 2003 would be an F2 and would probably say ZX900F2 on the title.

However, I believe they are all considered ZX9Rs. If your insurance guy wants to believe it's not an R model and will give you insurance cheaper, then I say let him do his own research, unless of course he then later tries to use that to get out of a claim:banghead

my insurance company doesnt consider my bike a "restricted" bike either.. i think it has to do with being aged, carbed, and under 900cc's (899)...

my bike is a zxr9e1, on the title its a zx9e. the zx9r isnt like the gsxr600 or the r1, where the r means more of a risk. also its a older bike and that helps. the zx9r also isnt as high of a theft/accident risk

Its the same thing. E1 or E2 is the generation. Its a zx9r E1 or E2= 2000 or 2001. I have a zx9r C1 or a 98.
