Ok, as stated many times, I'm new to this whole sport bike thing. What is with this new fangled cush drive? How much does it effect performance and comfort?
Also, if one wanted to remove it, what is involved with that? Can I take the "hub" off and bolt the sproket to the wheel with the appropriate sized spacer?

It helps with the sudden engagement of the gear when in neutral and also with shifting.

A comfort thing.

I guess you could remove and rig something together, but why bother? It doesn't hurt anything.

And don't bother replacing a "worn" one.
A new one will wear in just the same in like a week of use. Better bet is to shim the things.

Either way, newfangled? My 84 nighthawk had one. And it really doesn't affect shit. Just ride the bike.

From what I understand it's more for the happiness of the gearbox than the rider. Easy to replace and should last at least 5-10 years once done.

Yes, new fangled... I'm crossing the line from simplistic cruisers to these odd plastic covered, cush drived, high reving rocket ships.

thanks for the info guys.
