do i HAVE to use the one that kawi recommends or i can use something else? cus i am low and i need coolant in the morning. i can use water right? cus i am going on a 130 mi ride...there and back...260 total..so am i good or do i need to add water?
I think stock it's 50/50 (green) so as long as you add some of that stuff you'll be fine. Also if you decide to add water make sure it's distilled. I'm running water wetter in my bike with distilled water.
Generally there are two types, regular everyday antifreeze (thats been around for awhile) and the long life. "Usually" the long life is red or pinkish and the regular is green. I believe OEM uses the regular green type. You can buy the premix (50/50) its a little more expensive but there is no hard water issues that typically happens at home. Just be sure whatever you buy has a corrosion inhibitor specifically for aluminum engines.
Water wetter or engine ice are a better route but careful if it freezes in your area.
