Well I guess I'll start an actual build thread. Most of this stuff has been put on the bike so I missed a lot of pics I should have taken. But I'll start from when I got the bike, to engine replacement, front end fitments that didn't work, and so on.

Here is what I started with. Didn't look too bad but you can see there was a lot of work that needed done.

Put some plastics back on.

Got her to the house and started on the engine pull. I got the front seat on in this pic but it still needed recovered.

And out came the engine

Tried fitting an 03 636 front end but the steering head bearings wouldn't fit the steering head. So I scrapped that idea due to lack of money. Here's the pic though

I moved the bike to a friends shop since my landlord was making noises about the bike being torn apart.

And I got the engine back in and started running it.

Well I wrecked it.

Started with the side fairing replacement

New Yosh pipe

Muzzy race cams with adjustable gears. Can't wait to get these installed.

I'll get some more pics later.
Anyway the original engine that was in the bike, spun a rod bearing and messed it up so bad that it bent the crank. Beyond repair I believe. Here is a pic of the rod bearing. It's pretty bad...

You have a lot to be proud of tackling a project like that and getting it back on the road. Keep up the good work. Most of us just blow copious amounts of money and then toss on a few mods and call it good.

NIIIIICEE!!! Here's hoping to a trouble free rebuild :rotflmao! Not really a fan of yellow bikes, so I vote for Caddy pearl white scheme...feminine let gangsta :crazyloco! Plus, it'll match your leathers.

Good luck on the build!

The yellow will match my helmet too. I think I'll go with the white though.

A couple of shots I took at work.

Well the next is gonna be the pain part of the build. After I make a tail section that I can't seem to find anywhere. Either that, or I'll put a GSXR1000 tail on it.

Well a bunch of decided to take a ride sunday and my bike kept leaning out in the top. So yesterday I decided to rejet. Sorry I didn't get any pics of the re-jet or how I kept the bowl gaskets in the groove. Anyway I went from 112's and 114's to 122 with no shims and the needles on the top clip to bring them all the way down. I took her for a "spirited" test ride last night and so far so good. I have a little hick-up at the very top but shes hitting rev limiter a hell of a lot faster now. almost picked up the front a little shifting into second. I'll keep everyone posted. Ambient temps were 72 mild humidity for FL, and I was traveling around 60MPH. Open the throttle and she just comes to life.

A little off subject but for those of you (myself included) bashing Shinko tires I have not yet felt unstable or had the tires talk to me around a nice tight 25MPH corner at 80MPH. I am running the F010 Apexes and they seem to hold the pavement real nice.

Ive never heard great reviews from hardcore riders of the shinko's

I have done a lot of research on them and there is just as much positive as negative...

But I find that with all tires...

Myself I dont like 2CT's but lots swear by them

I am going to try a set of Stealth 003's

They are one of few that make a decent tire for an 18" rim

I personally love my Shinko's (had Dunlop Sportmax's before). I'm running the Raven 009's (my entire club runs them for that matter). They scrub in very easily, warm up quick, and puts my P model on a rail in the curves. They may not be as "sticky" as some of the more expensive brand, but for everyday street riding and $176.00/set delivered, they are worth it.

A very knowledgeable friend of mine told me that Shinkos provide GREAT mileage (even up to 20,000 miles), but they stick like Chihuahua doo-doo.

Well I have a friend of mine with the Ravens and he didn't like em. Now with is Pilot Powers and my shinkos, I was able to hang right with him in the twisties. He has a ZZR600 and I'm on a dinosaur ZX7 on Shinko Apex 010's. I love em. Able to hang with a GSXR1000 running Pirelli Angels.. I know a friend of mine on a Katana has the same tires I do and he said that his bike sticks much better than with the battlaxes he had on. So all in all if I can take a 25MPH 90 degree turn at 80 and my tires aren't speaking to me, either I'm moving too slow or these tires stick!

That's cool!

I have no experience with them either way so I can't speak on the subject. Glad they're working out for you though.

Well that has as much to do with the rider on the bike you're following as it does the quality of your tires. It'd be a little on the naive side to base your assessment entirely on that, not that you are.

Are your pegs all ground away? Are your Shinko's worn to the edge, hard?
