Bombshell: Ferracci & MV To Race US Superbike In '07!

In a brief telephone interview this morning, Italian Superbike maestro, Eraldo Ferracci, said that he intends to race the Superbike class next season on MV Agusta motorcycles. Previously Ferracci said his team would be racing the Superstock class in '07.

Ferracci will have a two rider team in 2007. One rider will be Italian Luca Scassa (23) and a final decision will be made next month on the second rider--several Americans are under consideration. Scassa, who almost won the FIM Superstock championship this season, will test the MV Superbike at Jennings in Florida later this month.

Fast by Ferracci Ducati was once the most dominant effort in World and US Superbike, and the patriarch of the effort says he's working steadily to prepare for a March Daytona debut of the MV team.

Ferracci said, "I have missed racing very much since I came back here to concentrate on my business, so I'm really excited to get the chance to come back. I have a lot of work to do, lining up vendors and building engines and things like that, but it is good to be back." Ferracci is one of the most popular and beloved people in the paddock.

Back he is, but several loose ends still need to be tied up. Ferracci said he has made no final decision on which brand of tires his team will use, and also that he's talking to several sponsors. "We'll have the full support of the MV factory so it's going to be a good effort," he said.

Ferracci said his initial work on the MV Superbike engine had increased power output by twenty percent.
