Where does the shift shaft seal go on an early 80's ninja? Does it go on the outside over the shift shaft?

The seal I bought is small in diameter than the recessed hole around the shaft

The part # is 92049-1186, or tb13205


Can someone with one of these bikes take a pic of the shaft?

I believe he has an 85 and an 86 900 eliminator and knows a lot about them. Unfortunaltely he hasn't posted on here for quite a while, but who knows...
