Hey, I'm going to get my 08 EX250-J next Saturday and I've been reading some guides to buying a used motorcycle but I still fill sketchy because I've never owned a bike nor known anyone who does. I was wondering if anybody lived around the Florence, AL area and wouldn't mind accompanying me to give the bike a good look over. I'll buy you lunch and a beer for helping out. I'm not too terribly worried because it's an 08 with 6372 miles on it so it shouldn't be in desperate need of any major replacements, but then again I am a newb. He wanted $2600 for the bike and I argued him down to $2250 It has been dropped once so there are some minor scratches but I don't think they are serious enough to bend the frame. The guy has also been pretty straight forward with all my questions but I still have more to ask.

Look at the fork tubes. Is there any pitting or rust where the seals would run. Chain and sprockets. Is the chain dry and are the teeth of the sprockets worn to a point? How does the brakes feel, and the clutch lever. Take it for a test drive and make sure it doesnt pop out of gear in the higher rpms. Does it start and idle good? Those are a few things to check out.

Also, I don't have a ramp but Ninja 250s aren't that heavy so could me a my friend who is a big football player load it by putting the front end in the truck then lifting the rear end up? Doesn't seem to difficult since it's a 250 but I have been wrong.

I'm thinking you are looking at at least a 400lb bike. Be careful...
