Aftermarket fairings

I bought a 2008 that the previous owner hit a deer and the insurance company called it a loss so it came with a salvage certificate. I was told by the owner that he didn't go down and it was all cosmetic damage. So when I went to look at it I brought a roll of duct tape, taped it all up so it wouldn't flap like crazy when I took it for a ride to evaluate. No scrapes anywhere so it was pretty obvious that it indeed hadn't been down. Brought it on the highway and at 140 there wasn't any vibration or any other mechanical issues. Here's what it looked like when I brought it home..

While it would of been nice to buy all OEM replacement fairings for her they were way out of my price range. I did a lot of research on aftermarket fairings and from what I found there's a company named ZXMT that is supposed to make a decent quality product. Specifically they don't glue on the mounting tabs and the fitment was supposed to be good. I ordered I one of their kits, 22 pieces, so it included everything needed for $360. Here's some of the pieces....

I was immediately impressed with the quality of the fairings. The plastic is sturdy and pliable. The mounting points are beefy and the paint is decent enough. I took my time and transferred over the foam from the stock fairings and any brackets such as the front blinker brackets

The further I got on the install the more impressed I became by this product. I did zero drilling, only cursed a few times at my own incompetence, and every part fit as it should. There are a few very minor gaps in a spot or two that probably wouldn't be with OEM but overall these fairings are an absolute steal for $360. The bike looks basically brand new and I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with this company for the fairings.

Did you happen to explore Mad Hornet's offerings for Kawasaki Fairings? Little more expensive but. Just curious.
I did. I read somewhere, can't remember where, and I'm not sure if this is true to be honest that ZXMT supplies 80% of the aftermarket fairings on the market and that a lot of the companies out there rebrand and paint them as their own but when you get them you will see that on the inside of the fairings it will be stamped ZXMT. My fairings obviously do have the ZXMT stamp, it's part of the mold so if other companies are using ZXMT you will know once you receive them. I contacted a few different companies, Mad Hornet being one of them but they didn't reply to me. The reason I contacted other companies to ask if they were using the ZXMT product was because I was wanting their product but also looking for the best quality paint job I could get.
If you go to Mad Hornets ZX14 fairing section you will see 63 reviews but if you start reading the reviews you will see there is 63 reviews for all of their fairings it's not ZX14 specific. After going thru a few pages out of the 63 none were for the 14 fairings and the reviews from USA customers weren't that flattering. Mad Hornet might make fantastic fairings but I wasn't willing to take the chance

BTW I'm not sure where Mad Hornet ships their fairings from but ZXMT has a California warehouse and they had my kit in stock there so my shipment didn't need to go thru customs. I got them 4 days after ordering them.
Fair enough. I was just curious because I've ordered a couple Ninja windscreens from them and the product is great and the turn around time was great as well.
Excellent. I'm going to get a windscreen from them then. I wanted to replace mine cause it kind of sticks out being a little beat up compared to the fairings but the Zero Gravity screens seemed a little pricey. $54 works for me😁

Lmao no rocks coming at you but I do have a question though I'm pretty sure you already answered it. Light smoke is what I am going to order. When you tuck behind you can see thru it easy peasy? I don't understand the dark smoke /black thing. Why would anyone have a windscreen that you can't clearly see thru???
Well.... Damn..... 1st off yes I've heard of Plexus but it has escaped my mind so huge thumbs up for putting it back into my memory bank I'm ordering it asap! Now onto the windscreen it didn't cross my mind that clear or light smoke will expose the behind gauge cluster area so that and the fact that 185EZ was kind enough to post the pictures of his dark smoke screen has me in a quandary..... 185 that looks phenomenal. On my last bike, BMW K1200GT, I'm not recalling a lot of tucking so to speak. As I get older my top speed and the duration of maintaining those speeds has dropped considerably. Maybe a dark smoke will be a constant reminder of my age and level of disregard for my own safety, or maybe it will be a reminder of why I didn't understand why people choose a screen that can't be seen thru:D

Anyone with any experience with the touring option?

That makes it look more like a Conny than a Z. But I can appreciate the wind deflection cruising around triple digit speeds.

I'm more about function than appearance to a point. I'm curious as to how much of a difference it might make. I will be riding from North East PA to the Carolinas more than once in a season. So if it's a noticeable difference without looking really awkward I'd try one...
That's just tits:cool:
