Okay I have pretty much decided on a green/black 2011 zx14. Like my last bike I went on cycletrader.com and searched 400 miles from my location and found a few for $9499 and $9999. However when you call these places they want to charge $750-$900 for freight and setup. The one even told me $335 for DMV stuff ( inspection, plates, registration & title ). I don't even remember playing close to this for my old bike. I was wondering what everyone else paid excluding state/local taxes. I have been telling all these dealers my price is $9999 out the door plus state tax if they are in NY. The one dealer I called in Richmond, VA told me he had 13 leftover 2011s and he would not budge on the freight & setup. I told him my price and said good luck with the 13 you have left when the 2012 ZX14Rs start to roll in. I wouldn't think these bikes move like 600cc supersport bikes.

Is my price unreasonable?

I can't find the threads right now. There's a couple on what guys paid for their 14s.
I ran into the same problem when I wanted to buy a 14. Ride Now in Las vegas had an awesome price but they wanted $1500 for set up.
I finally got the dealer in town to work with me. $8666 for a leftover 07 which i bought in 08. I got the 5 year good times protection plan so by the time I was out the door, about $10k. And that was everything including tax, registration, set up, etc. I walked out the door and didn't have to do anything else.
Oh, they gave me a full cover too. :smile

The guy has 13 leftovers and won't budge?? Can anybody see why he has 13 leftovers LOL ?? Makes me think of the Honda VFR 1200. Our local dealer has all three of his 2010's still on the floor. They were 18.5 and 19.5 (clutchless) when he started, and now they are 16.5 and 17.5. I saw one, brand new, on E-bay - opening bid was 5 and there were no takers. Apparently Honda Canada won't let him lower his price because they don't want a price war among the dealers. There were several 2011 ZX 14 demos for sale up here last year for around 11.5 - 11.9 with 3k miles. New they are about 18.5 new here, if that helps. I would think that there should be some really nice low mile used for cheap. The bikes are built like brick shithouses, and a well cared for low miles bike is pretty much as good as new. Just look at the seller.

I bought my 09 in 09.Bought it on E-Bay for $10,200.It's a local dealer.I had to pay a $250 destination fee and Pa sales tax.Think it was 11 grand OTD.Not bad for a new bike same year.No way I'm going to eat 7 grand on the new bike when mine is so close to new.I'd rather have the new Mustang GT.Might get the head ported and milled next winter.

<snip. . . Is my price unreasonable?
not at all, your price is more then fair. . .your buying a new bike and the guy is treating you like a retail bike buyer. . .performance wise, a low, low miles '06 is cheap and will do everything that '11 will do it. These bikes are built like anvils, outside of mandatory new year marketing "up grades", the big ZX-14 upgrade is the 2012 model. One 8 day round trip to the West coast or Canada and that '11 is just another used bike. I'd wait till spring and pick up a low mile '12, since your prepared to pay 10K. Just my opinion, but I think 10K is a lot of motorcycle dough in a shot economy.

I paid $8400 and change for my '07 in November of '08 it was a brand new left over had .3 miles on it when I rode it off the lot. It now has 26k on it and I took it to the dealer where I bought it in December to see what they'd give me for trade on a new 2012 they told me it has high miles offered me $4600 but only if I put the bike back to stock. It has slip-ons and is stretched 6". It was very hard to not laugh in his face.

Okay so my offer of $9999 + tax out the door is not unreasonable. I figured in this economy a dealership with 2010's and 2011's would be dying to get rid of a bike because the 2012s are slowly starting to trickle in.

I am in no hurry to purchase a bike and if they won't take my offer then :thefinger

10,000 is a good deal I think. If you want a new bike that you get to break in and be able to say its new. Plus you're getting a full factory warranty. I personaly will never buy used, never know what the person did to it because they're selling it. Some might say I am throwing money away, well thats fine I do it every year. Thats great these deals people got in 08, and even 2010,11, but heres the thing, kawi is not offering the big dealer incentives, rebates and hold backs this year. I think they're just offering 500 on the new new and new leftovers. If you want the bike get it, if its not worth it to YOU then don't. I bought a left over busa last year and got a great deal, tried doing the same thing this year cash, same dealer as i do every year and they simply couldn't do it. Bottom line, bussiness are are around to make profit not lose money, and if anyone thinks dealers pay 6-7k for a 14 in their inventory their wrong. Can you get a used bike with 5000+ miles on it for 7000? yep, if you want someone elses bike. Someone else who ran fram oil filters and didn't have the money to change their oil at 1500-2000miles, someone who beat on it and runs shinko crap tires, or did their own cheap mods, or dropped it, or "it has that scratch from moving it around in my garage" thats a good one, the bike could have overheated at one point, or could have any hidden problems. Not saying its all sellers, but most are shifty s.o.b.'s and I'm not gonna trust something under me at 80-180mph thats used.

I'm same about buying used. Who knows what about the bike? There's always doubts. Fine on 800cc or less but the forces involved on the 14 make it all a little scary if something suddenly snaps or cracks. Guys go thru tires in 5-6 or less k miles. You're busting the dealers balls over a few hun? Fuck, maybe ride an 80mpg scooter. The dealer has 13 cause everyone is internet shopping, sittn' on their fricken asses, whining about nickels and dimes. Get the bike or not. If you are going to mod it like you should to get it all working so that it makes ya tingle all over, you're going to have to throw a few g's at anyways. And change those fricken useless tires right after break-in. And losing 4g's over 4 years on a bike bought brand new? I'd say that pretty darn decent. It's a fricken motorcycle not an investment. If ya can afford it because you haven't lost a few hundred g's on real estate or your mutual funds, spend the little extra, get brand new, feel good and enjoy life. 10g ish for brand new 2011 14's are an absolute killer value for such performance outta the box. You're talking about the cost of a 3-4 day road trip that you could've had already...

Dealers should sell for free and buyers should pay nothing. Yup, best way to keep the American dream going. Outlaw profit for small business and spread the word. What's worse than what you say is minds like yours. You probably think your government knows how best to spend your tax dollars too. Just a few trillion here and a few trillion there and everyone will be worrying about dealer profits and drug dealers. Your type thinking on the concept of business makes me sick.

Everyone has to make a profit of some type to stay in business. I think your price is fair, personally. I paid the same "base" price as you for my first '08 back in '09 when it was also a "leftover". When a '12 costs roughly $5000 more?! Bottom line is either you want it or not. It's gonna cost another $750 to ship one to you from anywhere else in the country so they'd have to be letting 'em go for $9249 to match your current deal. Outstanding deal it seems. :clap

Yep. Seems like so many don't understand that things aren't free.
