so I have a 2004 zx10-r that I’ve been working on getting running.
When I start it, the rpm’s run all the way up and won’t come back down to a normal idle. Any ideas on what it could possibly be?
side note…the guy I had got it from said that he “rebuilt” the fuel pump recently..I don’t know what the means necessarily, anytime I’ve had a fuel pump issue I just buy a new one, could that possibly have anything to do with my problem?
anyway, Thank you ahead of time for any help guys!

Your 10R uses a fast idle at cold start up and reduces Engine Revs as it warm up, I would be checking your Temp sender is working ok, Have you got the Factory Service Manual for testing procedure ?

Also, there's an idle adjuster at the top RH side of the TB that can be adjusted. I had a high idle; about 2.1k RPM. I adjusted that and now the ISA; the one with the knob that dangles; works as it should.
